I have had this unit installed in my 2003 Honda Accord EX since January 2012. Over all I like it with my iPhone 4S.

Here are the things I don't like:

-Maximum volume is low and I wish I could bost the pre-amp signal into the stock radio.

-The iPhone recharging rate is extremely low - to the point where if my iPhone 4S has location services turned on while doing other stuff including iPhone screen on, the battery appears to discharge, not recharge.

-The 30 pin connector has already failed and I am waiting for the $30.00 plus shipping charge to arrive, but it is currently back ordered. This connector was not mis-treated, it is far too fragile, especially compared to Apple connectors.

-If the iPhone is disconnected from the iSimple gateway but the radio is still set to CD 7, the engine(?) noise is not filtered and the radio makes annoying noises.

I installed the ISHD751 in a 2007 Honda Pilot. The ISHD571 consists of the 'media gateway' box and vehicle specific cables, and Instructions that are particular to your make of vehicle, but not your model or year. You are on your own to know how to disassemble/reassemble your dashboard, and will have to replace (from your dealer) any retaining clips that you might lose as panels are removed.

Installation was straightforward, however the unit that I installed initially would not recognize my iPhone 3gs with IOS4.1; I had to upgrade the firmware in the ISHD571 media gateway (using a Windows-only installer and instructions from the pac-audio.com web site, and a USB to mini-USB cable which they did NOT provide) before it would recognize my phone as connected. I installed the media box behind my glovebox so that future updates to the firmware wouldn't require dis-assembly of the dash. The instructions with the unit DO NOT mention any possibility of upgrading the media gateway firmware; this is a huge oversight on their part.

After I installed the unit, following the instructions closely, the ISHD571 Inputs appear as sub-categories of your 'XM' mode on the factory radio. Switching the modes takes a bit of getting used to, as there's a bit of lag between a keypress on the radio and something happening on the display. Explaining how to use it to other family members that occasionally drive your car could be challenging. It will definitely require practice.

Controlling iPod/iPhone functionality from the stock radio requires use of the 'preset' buttons 2-6 on your stock radio. For example, pressing the preset '2' toggles Random play mode.

Hardware is easy to install but then the problems begin. Everything from a "No SAT" message after the second install (yes, I said second; took five times to get it to work) to mysterious disappearing on-screen controls. The "iPhone" interface is nowhere near as intuitive as is implied by the advertising. The controls are nearly impossible to work while sitting at the curb. Trying to get to a song you want while driving would probably be suicide. I still haven't figured out how to bring up the AUX interface consistently. The controls seem to change each time I turn the unit on. Sometimes they work off of the TUNE knob, sometimes off the CAT FLDR. It makes no sense and the instructions are not helpful. At this point, I'm resolved to use only the AUX and standard audio cable to listen to music. It works and I can control what I want to listen to from the iPhone itself. Which means basically I paid $200 to install an AUX plug on my radio since the iPhone side of the iSimple doesn't work worth a damn. And the first time I plugged my iPhone into it, it overheated in about five minutes. It and the cable were blistering hot which means I'm pretty sure the product also doesn't safely charge the 4, even though it claims to on the side of the package. Suffice it to say I won't be trying it again as I don't want it to destroy my phone. Oh, and I forgot to mention the "world famous technical support". A complete joke. The kid on the other end of the phone was rude, talked in technical jargon (I'm pretty sure this was done on purpose to make me feel like an idiot; luckily I have enough tech experience to follow what he was saying but I could see other customers having major problems) and seemed completely put out to have to actually help me. So overall, if you're looking for a product that does about 1/4 of what it promises, has poor customer service/technical support and is way overpriced for what you actually get, then iSimple Gateway is the product for you!

My wife (whose Amazon account we used to purchase this) and I were looking at these types of adapters after I got my 06' Acura TL because the factory installed adapter didn't charge my iPod and didn't really have good functionality. This adapter works only with regular and iPod touch type iPods, with mine particularly being a 4th gen iPod touch. I bought this over the USA-spec kit because of many complaints I'd read on the Acurazine.com forums about issues with intermittent connection problems.

Be prepared to spend some time installing this as it takes patience and time totaling about 3-4 hours to do it correctly. You have to access the back of the Navi unit/radio and requires removal of the bezel pieces along the sides of the center console, removal of the shift knob and surrounding cover pieces, and the tray pieces between the radio and the shifter area (Manual or Auto transmissions). Also removal of the upper vents above the Navi unit. Once I figured out what had to come out installation became simple (forgive the pun). There is only one connector that really fits properly into the Y harness and on the radio it's the far left if looking down from the top. There was room behind the radio to stuff the wires and I placed the unit behind the Navi screen (used zip-ties to secure it)for easy access for updates from iSimple. Another reason to get this unit is the fact that they update it with the latest frimware, and all you have to do is hook it up to your pc, run the update program from the website and boom, any iPod updates that may affect functionality are fixed. I checked the site and it is updated constantly. This unit can use the option for the HD radio tuner, but I don't listen to the radio enough to purchase that adapter (about $75.
