4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good...
I purchased this as a Black Friday Gold Box deal and got an excellent price on it -- figured that if it wasn't good, I could just return it with Amazon's amazing return policy. :) I got 1 day shipping on it and it arrived early this afternoon. I just now finally unpackaged it, hooked up my tivo and dvd player and everything is working great. The menus are easy to navigate...

The Good: The price is a cash saver for an 24" LCD: most 24" LCD tvs range for $270-$350 plus tax at stores. Setup was really easy. Great size for a small bedroom at 24" and the design is elite with the clear glass-like on the bottom. Movies and video games look energetic and sharp. Sound is clear and the volume does get loud when turned up. The remote has a channel list (which many remotes do not have), so it's useful to know what channels proceeds and trails by.

The Bad: Although the LCD tv's size is good, the resolution is not so great. Certain channels tend to fuzz or have small ridges along the screen. The remote is sensitive: when I am on the menu and move the cursor by using the arrows on the remote, it will change the channel.

The Ugly: The start up and load time are absolutely terrible. The iSymphony takes a longer time for the picture to appear on the screen than other tvs. When changing channels, the picture lags about 8 secs before any images load. It's pretty annoying since my old RCA tv loaded the images within 2 seconds when the channels changed. Quite disappointing from the iSymphony's LCD tv.

Overall, the television is promising and reliable for now. Even though the resolution isn't perfect, it's exceptional for its low cost and non-popularity. The sound performs at its greatest and does not leave any noise. What needs major improvement is the start up and load time for channels because I sometimes feel that the tv will explode from the amount of lag. I recommend this iSymphony 24" LCD tv for the low income and minimum budgeteers.

For those who might be looking for a code to program your Tivo remote to control the TV power and volume -- I used "Citizen" brand TV code 0092 and the power and volume now works from my Tivo remote!

For the price I paid it seemed like a good deal. And it is very easy to setup. The main downside is that there is no audio out on the TV and the speakers seem to point backwards. The volume is ok but not great, I have to turn it up almost to max to really hear it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality verses Price, which is victorious?, November 30, 2010

This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
BOTH! I received this unit yesterday(ordered Friday), as a gold box item @ $149. Price was the major factor but the quality picture, sound etc. seem comparable to name brand units. As to lag time between channel selections I have not noticed with Comcast(without their converter box)any more than approximately a 1.2 second interval. So throwing price out of the equation value and quality would have a hard time deciding the victor! As to the VESA mounting dimension which is not stated in the description it is (VESA 100).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value LCD, December 2, 2010

This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
I just received my 24" 1080p LCD ($149.00 Lightning deal delivered) and set it up in about 5 minutes. I also received a Vizio 23" LED Razor ($223.00 delivered) yesterday from Costco and comparing the two models and just after a few minutes, Im sticking with the Isymphony model and returning the Vizio. The Vizio LED is a nice unit, great picture, very thin, but what I dont like is the remote. I must have received a semi-defective one but thats not the issue but rather the functionality of the remote is much better on the Isymphony. This is for my 5 yr olds room and I like the sleep/timer function right on the remote, the Vizio doesnt have it. Its basically going to be hooked up to a DVD to watch movies and thats about it. I can tell its not built like the power house Samsung, Sony, LG, and Panasonic (which I own a 42" and 50" Panasonic Plasma and they are great) but for $149.00 for a 5 year olds room or even a bedroom, this is a great value TV. The remote is very easy to navigate. The 1 HDMI doesnt pose any issues and the Sony DVD works just fine, which is component. The 42" 1080p Isymphony LCD is to be delivered next week ($298.00 Lightning deal delivered) and that will replace the 32" Sony Wega tank in the bedroom I have had for almost 10 years. I wasnt aware that Isymphony made LCDs but was familiar with their audio products. In conclusion, easy out of the box set up, good remote, good picture, great value. Price was a big consideration and the lighning deal made this 24" 1080p LCD a steal and great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little TV! Need U-Verse Code?, July 17, 2011
By
This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
I bought two of these for my bedrooms to replace my old 50+ pound dinosaurs. The price was right, and the picture and sound are great for TVs going into small rooms. I have AT&T U-Verse, and had to do a little sleuthing on the Internet to find a code that worked for the remote. The code suggested by AT&T didn't work. After trying a half-dozen different codes, I finally found one that worked: 1443. Hope this helps someone!

5.0 out of 5 stars iSymphony LC24iF56 24-inch 1080p LCD HDTV, December 28, 2010

This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
I purchased the iSymphony LC24iF56 24-inch 1080p LCD HDTV (don't confuse this with the iSymphony's 26-inch version, which is a 720p) online on Amazon on Black Friday. I have never heard of iSymphony ever, so was hesitant at first, but at one hundred and fifty dollars (regular price at that time was two hundred nineteen dollars), I could not pass it up. My only regret now is that I did not cash in on 2 of these wonderful TVs at that price!

I am NOT a tech-savvy LCD HDTV person (just came off of my tube TV), but must tell you that it doesn't matter how far or near I sit to this TV, the picture is always awesome, and the several Hi-Def. channels on cable look spectacular. I have not noticed any significant difference in the picture with differnt horizontal (or verticle) viewing angles. I hooked up my new laptop to it via HDMI and was able to watch youtube music videos and a couple of dvd's and noticed only a slight variation in color between my laptop monitor and the TV (did not try high action movies or any blu-ray dvds, so cannot comment on those). I did not try to tweek colors on the TV, so we are talking default colors here (didn't bother me much, so didn't care to try changing it). Initially, I wasn't all that impressed with the sound quality until I fiddled with the audio settings, and now I love it (personally don't care about surround sound, so for those who do, obviously this or any other TV's normal audio will not do, though I still think it is quite good compared to other TV's).

Not sure if this is common with cable/LCD HDTV's/just this particular brand and model, but there is about a 1-second delay when changing channels. Honestly though, I hardly notice it now that I am loving this TV.

I especially like that it is well ventilated from a couple of places towards the bottom back as well as the top back (especially important since as we all know, hot air rises). I have had this TV turned on almost 15 hours every day (sleep with it on) since it arrived at the end of November 2010 and so far, no problems and no excessively hot surfaces.

It has the power, volume, channel, menu, and "input source" buttons discretely situated on the right side (in case you lose your remote). It has the following inputs/outputs on the middle of the lower back side: HDMI, VGA, PC input, RF input (using it for cable wire), Audio input, and the AV and Y Pb Pr inputs. I have only used the RF & HDMI inputs, so cannot speak about the others.

Honestly, the only thing I dislike about this TV is the remote. It feels cheap like one good drop and it's done for. Additionally, the number pad area is set up differently than any other remote I have ever used. I don't like to have to look down at my remote to input a specific channel (especially when watching in the dark - really annoying!). However, I think you can use a universal remote for that issue (there is a reveiwer who received comments under the iSymphony reviews on Amazon who mentions what other brand name you can use to set this up, since he/she could not find "iSymphony" listed on the universal remote instructions).

Oh yeah! Almost forgot. Others mentioned issues they had with setting up the plastic base, etc., but mine came already attached so no problems there. However, while the bolts feel well-secured, be forewarned that the plastic base itself does feel cheap, so I wouldn't handle it too aggressively.

Overall, I love this TV!! A 26-inch with everything else staying the same would have been the perfect TV for me, but like I said earlier, the iSymphony 26-inch that Amazon had listed back when I purchased this had different specs, so I prefer this slightly smaller one for sure! Frankly, knowing what I know about the TV now, I would not be phased at purchasing another one at even the regular price (assuming it endures at least 2-3 years, that is - no television is worth a 1-yr lifespan in my opinion).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great deal, December 5, 2010

This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
Purchased this TV for a present for my daughter. Was reluctant at first since I have never heard of Isymphony and there were no reviews for this item at the time. But figured with the return policy what did i have to loose? Thought since the 30 day return policy will be close to the holiday, I better give it a quick check, that way if I don't like it I could send it back. Well I wish I would have purchased 2. Easy to set up. Didn't put it completely together because it went back in the box to get wrapped, but the picture is great. I don't spend hours in front of the tv, but this tv I would not mind watching for hours. I think the picture quality is better than my name brand 40some inch. I think she will be pleased. And what a deal with the lighting deal!! Thanks amazon for offering a good product, great shipping and great return policy (though I have never had to use it).

4.0 out of 5 stars isymphony 24 in 1080p LCD TV, September 13, 2011

This review is from: iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black (Electronics)
I read a lot of reviews on this TV before I bought it, on other sights as well as here on Amazon. A lot of the complaints I read are about fuzzy picture on certain channels. I had to think a second about that and assumed the writer was using on air tuning or has a bad cable company. My TV is hooked up to DIRECTV through an HDMI cable so all the channels will be the same. If I had a fuzzy picture I would call DIRECTV not the TV manufacturer. The picture on my TV is crisp and clear. I have no trouble with the remote, or length of time in worm up. If there is an inconsistency with the quality, I am one of the lucky ones. Overall I'm very happy with the picture.

The sound, on the other hand, is a different story. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers, the sound is very tinny. I pushed the bass all the way up and it helped, but this is an area for improvement. There isn't a stereo out so unless you cable box has stereo out you're stuck with it. The sound isn't so bad that I wanted to send it back, but I can see how some people are put off. Luckily for me I have a stereo out on my cable box so I run it through a small stereo system.

My biggest pet peeve is there isn't a usable remote control code. This is DIRECTV fault for not keeping up, not isymphony's.

Overall for what I needed it for, (my bedroom), you can't beat the price.
