Disappointment,

This review is from: iSymphony W5C Stereo Audio System with Wireless Bookshelf Speakers (Electronics)
This system replaced a similar one, which had the advantage that the speakers were battery powered, and recharged from the base station. When I read "wireless" I didn't expect to plug the speakers into separate plugs. They are useless in the back yard.
A mistaken purchase.

This is a great product and value for the money. The sound is amazing and it takes up very little space compared to other systems that include a CD player.

I bought this stereo system for my husband, and he absolutely loves it! This is the first gift I have bought him in a LONG time that he REALLY loves. He uses it on the patio when we are in the pool and makes a party of an afternoon swim. We usually put our iPhones into it and play the music we have downloaded. The sound can't be beat. It's the best stereo system we have ever had!

Easy to set up - crap wagon sound,

Just like the title. This thing is easy to set up. Simply plug in the speakers and turn it on - yay wireless sound!
But, the speakers don't shut up. Speakers aren't supposed to make noise when there is no music playing. These do. They make annoying faint sounds that sound very similar to a hard drive in a computer when it's writing data. So when you have sound on low volume, you can hear that over the sound. I'm sorry - that is a game killer. I had mine for one day. It's boxed up and ready to be shipped back for my money back hopefully. Oh, also, the company iSymphony is practically non-existent. They have 4 email addresses listed on their "website" (i use that term loosely) and 2 of them bounced back immediately. The other two I still haven't heard back from - so forget any kind of warranty coverage from these guys. I'm done. Going to say screw it and get Sonos, worth the price for quality of sound.

I ordered the isymphony shelf system with wireless speakers and received it in a timely manner. It was easily installed and I enjoy the excellent sound quality of the speakers. I especially appreciate the wireless capability so that I can place the speakers in different areas within my home without running annoying wires.

I ordered this for my 16 year old son and he LOVES it! I was not an avid fan of Amazon.com, but after this experience, I have made three additional purchases and one return and I can honestly state that Amazon.com has won me over! Every aspect of the purchase, ordering, shipping and returns, were done without hassle and very smooth. Thank you Amazon!

This is a great system. I played my ipod on it and it sounded like a complete stereo system. I now have it hooked to my stereo and direct tv so we can enjoy the music in other rooms withou trying to figure out how to get wires to them.
These are not designed to go outside unless of course you have bookshelves outside(DUH).

Good product - Terrible customer support,

Bought the W5C about 8 weeks ago for a bedridden relative living with me. The sound is quite good and it is compact.
However, when we recv'd the unit there was a broken weld in the spring of the remote control and so the battery wont stay in and the remote doesn't work. In the past 7 weeks I filled out one help form on line , sent two e-mails via the website and left a voicemail. Today I have called 4 times and each time I get just a recording. I called the number for their customer serivce group listed under " Warranty" but that number is non working. So, while the system sounds good, I would not recommend it as you will be COMPLETELY on your own if you need help. They appear to not be interested in customer service.

Wireless... and "made for iPod"... need a bit more disclosure right up front,

Wireless, indeed between the main unit and the individual speakers. Each still need to be connected to AC outlets. Perhaps everyone already knows this, but I didn't. Not really an issue, other than looking back through the promotional materials, usage of the word "wireless" is only partially true!
And another disconcerting discovery... page 17 of the User Manual: "... This unit does not support Digital Rights Management (DRM) and cannot play songs purchased from iTunes or other songs in the ACC format..." All over in the ads for this player, on the front of the box, on the front of the adhesive protective cover on the main unit, on the front of the User Manual "Made for iPod" yet won't play songs purchased from iTunes! Well, the good news, our unit in fact DOES PLAY music we purchased from the iTunes store. I'm not a techie so this all may make perfect sense if you already understand all the formats used for recording and playing digital music. We play most of our music, via a hard-wire from our Mac's to the Aux port on the main unit. Use of an Airport Express might eliminate that cord, too. When I placed my iPhone 4 into the main unit... wala sound from the speakers! And worked equally well with our iPod, with purchased iTunes songs, too. Extremely simple to set up, very pleasing sound, and once you understand all the *'s, an easy and inexpensive system to recommend. |
