Practical, Functional. Couldn't Be Happier, March 26, 2010
This review is from: iTalk Clock with Voice Command Response LED Alarm Clock (Watch)
Length:: 4:17 Mins
I am very happy with this product. As I was saying in the video, I compared the reviews to the Moshi Talking Alarm Clock (that you can also find on Amazon) but so many people were unhappy with the forced disco night light. The iTalk, on the other hand, is just your run of the mill alarm clock with the added function of voice commands which is all I wanted. I really like being told "Good morning, it is 8:30 AM" instead of being bombarded with an annoying sound but if you want the nerve wrecking sounds, you can still have it. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I had no trouble at all getting iTalk to understand what I'm saying as you can clearly hear in the video. I would recommend this product to anyone lacking dexterity such as senior citizens and I would also recommend this product to anyone who just likes neat toys and/or being lazy. The one feature I would like to see is the ability to disable the alarm with your voice if you wake up before the alarm sounds. As of right now, the only way to do that is to manually flip the switch in the back. Although, if you /wait/ until the alarm sounds, you can easily just say "Alarm Off". I hope my video helps you make an informed purchase.

Better than I expected, October 30, 2010

Here are some points left out of the other reviews or in the Amazon description of the product, that might be useful to you: There are two ways to Snooze the unit. You can say "Snooze". Or you can physically press down on the unit itself. The feet of the unit are actually buttons. So when you press down on the whole unit, it presses the buttons. This allows you to snooze the unit without having yell over your spouse or partner and wake them up too. The buttons also serve as a trigger when you decide to not have it listen for the voice trigger. So rather than say "Hello ITalk" you can just press down on the unit. This is convenient if you find the voice trigger is often accidentally triggered by television or conversation noise, etc... Also one other reviewer mentioned they would have liked to be able to turn off the alarm via voice before the alarm went off in case you happen to wake up early. The reason I suspect they disallowed this is to prevent any random noise from accidentally turning off the alarm before it goes off. So it's really a failsafe. Instead there is a hard switch that allows you to turn off the alarm in that event. This is a very sensible design feature to make sure you don't miss your alarm. One other feature I recall that makes this unit different from the similar Moshi clock is that when the alarm does go off and you say "Alarm off", the clock keeps the alarm for the next day. The Moshi clock does not. You have to remember to set it. Again, this is a failsafe so you don't forget to enable the alarm the following day. My last note is that while the time can be set with voice, the date cannot. Those require the use of the buttons at the back of the unit. This is not really a big deal since most bedside alarm clocks don't even have a date function. Overall I am rather impressed by the design of the user-interface. The voice activation makes the clock much easier and faster to operate, and yet the designers have made sure that accidents won't happen that may cause you to miss an alarm.

Really cool and worked great - for less than 6 months, July 9, 2010
This review is from: iTalk Clock with Voice Command Response LED Alarm Clock (Watch)
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. The talk functions were way cool. All you need to do is say, "Hello iTalk" and it will respond with, "Can I help you". However, we'd frequently be talking to each other (and not saying anything that even remotely sounded like "hello iTalk"), and it would wake up and ask, "Can I help you". At which point we'd have to stop our conversation long enough to yell "cancel" at the clock. This was only mildly annoying and mostly amusing. Otherwise we were really enjoying the clock. Then in about mid-May (remember, we'd only had it since Christmas), it stopped working suddenly and completely, and with no explanation. We were trying to set the alarm one night, and got no response at all from the clock. We tried setting it manually, but it doesn't seem to have any manual functions. It still shows the correct time, but that is ALL it does. There are no talk functions and no alarm. I'm still trying to find out if there is any warranty from the manufacturer.
