One of the clearest, easiest to follow technical books I've read in a long time.

Clear, step by step examples that are thoroughly explained make this a book you can understand, even without following along on the computer.

I found it very helpful.

I started with zero inside knowledge about PDF. Armed with this book, I finished my first project to generate reports in PDF format in 2 weeks; and I am heading comfortably to generate more complicated PDF files with buttons, graphs and things like that. This book is clearly written and digs in-depth. I highly recommend this book.

Bruno Lowagie is a Belgian National Treasure! Bruno, as the primary developer of iText, together with all of the online documentation, has made extraordinary contributions to the art and science of PDF origination and manipulation. These contributions alone are significant, even without the books.

What is so amazing is the fact that Bruno has been able to write two editions of "iText in Action", bringing them to print, both as eBooks and print editions, concurrently with his maintenance of the iText library and its online documentation. All of this -- in a period of about five years -- while dealing, at the same time, with family adversities that would plunge most people into deep depression.

"iText in Action, 2nd Edition" is a mandatory addition to the library of anyone who is serious about working with Portable Document Format (PDF).

Congratulations, Bruno, on your contributions to the PDF literature. May you have many more successes, in both your professional and personal lives. I am proud to count you among my friends. You are an inspiration to us all.
