I had been looking for a compost pail to replace the antique one I had in the sink for a very long time. I did not like any of the new versions with charcoal features or lids that did not shut tight so odors escaped. I have the itouchless trash can in my kithen and this led me to look in a new direction for a compost bin. I found this 1 gallon bin and it is perfect. I keep it under the sink (so now I have a full sink back - bonus). This pail has a plastic container with a handle that sits inside the stainless bin. The lid stays open just long enough to put the scraps in and once the lid shuts no odors escape. I love it and think it should be marketed as an under the sink compost bin.

I'm a germophobe, and got this little trashcan last year, to have it sitting on the counter by the kitchen sink so that I can throw small things away without having to touch a trash bin. I'm not too fond of the huge trashcans that get smelly and take up space in the kitchen, so I much prefer this little one that we don't have to touch and that we just empty regularly. The inner bucket is the perfect size for reusing supermarket bags as trash bags also!

It's wonderful for small trash, fruit peels, eggshells, the morning's coffee beans and all sorts of little dirt I have while cooking etc.
It can fit quite a lot of trash and it doesn't take much space, and so far it's worked just fine.

After quite a while it started getting some trouble closing once it opened and I worried that it might be broken, but it turned out it was just the batteries running out.
Once I changed them (which is as easy and quick as changing the trash bag by the way) the little trashcan went right back to being a wonderful help in my kitchen. And considering I've only had to change the batteries once a year so far, it's really not bad on the energy consumption! :)
(I assume how often you open it per day would change the speed at which it depletes the batteries, but still, only having to change them every several months is great.)

I hope it will live a long life, but if it broke tomorrow I'd have to buy a new one right away, they're really excellent.

This product works much like the other iTouchless systems. Keeps everything sanitary and for this size, works especially great in the bathroom where it is for me. One disappointment was the lack of the invaluable ring which holds the bags in place in the larger iTouchless garbage cans. This keeps the bag from slipping off and takes away the cumbersome task of having to keep the bag secured (hopefully!) by hoping there's just enough space between the outer can and the inner container to hold it in place. The ring was a simple yet effective solution which this model does not have.

The itouchless 1 gallon trash can is a good idea. It worked well for me for at least two months. Then the automatic sensor stopped working. The company has a responsive customer service department, but they want me to send them a check for $9.95 for return shipping and handling. So by the time I send in the top, I have come close to paying for a new trashcan. Not going to do that, and wouldn't buy one again.

The cover is not air tight and this cannot be used for anything that might smell. Otherwise it works as advertised.

The idea is really cool, but it only worked for about a day. The lid began to stay open all of the time, and the sensor no longer registered movement. Way too fussy and frustrating to recommend. Just get a regular can and save your money and time.

I love this automatic trash can. I keep it next to the kitchen sink and use it for keeping food scraps, which I dump into the green trashcan with the yard waste so that the city can turn it into compost. I've tried using other composting and food scrap bins and they all get smelly. But this trash can seals pretty well and keeps the smell in. The sensor that automatically opens the lid is so convenient: all you have to do is chop your veggies, put your hand over the lid so it opens, then drop in your food scraps. Excellent product!

I have owned the larger trash for five years now and has worked flawlessly every time. I purchased this small one thinking that it would be equally as great but forget it. This GARBAGE lasted a little over two weeks. It just STOPPED working just like that. I not only had to return it right away but I did not even get fully reimbursed for my shipping costs. This was a BAD buy and LOST money on this item.

I love the convenience of this product. You keep your hand sanitary while cooking.
It also keeps the trash smell inside pretty well.
I just hope it lasts... This is my second Touchless Trashcan. Do not put it under water to clean (just wipe clean) or force the lid up or down when on. Believe me people get very excited about it and think it is a toy...

Great product is not that big, just for my room, it senses when something is approaching and it opens up, a few seconds later it closes down by itself.... I am happy with my purchase!
