After purchasing the first one, we bought a second. Works as advertised and provides plenty of space for a lot of trash. No more emptying the trash can every other day to replace the bag.

I was a little hesitant to order this since it was more than I wanted to pay for a kitchen garbage can but I'm glad I did. It is a very nice quality stainless steel can and I love the "touchless" feature. It holds so much that I find we don't need to change the bag near as often - it holds a 30 gallon bag nicely and pretty much fills up the whole bag before it needs changed. It also keeps the smell under control with the nice lid. I would recommend using the plug in adaptor with it to save on batteries if you have an outlet nearby. It's great for when you're cooking and you have to keep throwing things in it - keeps your hands cleaner because you don't have to keep touching the lid. I couldn't find this size anywhere in any stores so this was a great find!

I bought this for my wife she said I want a new trash can that is stainless steel and I don't have to touch and has a lid this works great she thought that I would find one with a step but this is so much cooler we have 3 kids and a dog and cat so this gets some use and has held up

I got this can to replace a very large "bullet" style can. This can stays a lot cleaner (since the kids aren't touching it), holds a lot of trash, and is very easy to deal with in getting the bag in/out. My only complaint is that the batteries seems to run out frequently (it uses 4 D cells);I think this might be due to the fact that we use it a lot with little kids throwing away one napkin at a time, etc. I would recommend buying the AC adapter if you are placing this near an outlet.

EDIT: The mechanism that raises/lowers the lid has malfunctioned in less than a year (within the warranty). Contacted the company and they seemed very disinterested and simply advised me that I must have 'broken' the unit by using it inappropriately. Because of this I would no longer recommend. They agreed to replaced the lid if I paid ~$40 for shipping costs. I did so and got the new top and bought an AC adapter. No issues since then and the adapter has eliminated the constant battery-munching. Jury is still out on whether it can last in the long run though!

I contacted the company, and they asked me to ship the lid back to CA and to attach money order on the sum of $9.95 !!!!! for them to ship it back !!!.... I went to the post office and it will cost me $40 to ship it back + the $ 9.95. This company does not know how to treat a customer and probably in a bad shape to ask money to ship it back an item to you that was defected from the beginning.

I am stuck with it now and it cost so much !!! very disappointed

I had to return the first can I ordered because the infrared signal failed within the first 2 weeks that I owned it.

I received the replacement and the infrared is definitely flakey on this can as well. Sometimes it works as it should, other times it will continuely open and shut for no reason at all, all...night...long, unless it's turned off. Sometimes it fails to work entirely and has to be opened using the open and shut button. It's less dependable than my ex-husband. It's pretty clear that the infrared electronics are not 100% stable.

I really wanted to love this can.

I ordered this and was very pleased with its size and looks. This can takes a full black garbage can liner, so you don't need to take the garbage out as often, a big boon in a busy household.

Overall, I'm very happy with this product. It adds an attractive, modern look to my kitchen and the larger capacity of the can adds the convenience of not needing to change the bag every other day. The automatic opener mechanism is a bit too sensitive -- the can often opens just by walking nearby -- but it pretty much works as described. I would recommend this product to others considering an automated trashcan.

If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg on the original, this is a great alternative. Works like a charm, stainless body. The lid is not silent when opening or closing and you need to use largeer bags with the 18 gal. but well worth it. Also does not come with the base or optional plug, (Not sure if the ones from the original will work - I didn't think they were worth the investment.)but the batteries last as stated!! great with kids and pets.

Loaded trash bag is easy to remove from can. Love the automatic lid...but the lid sensor is sensitive so don't walk to close cause the lid will open.

I bought the smaller 13 gallon size from Costco, and then saw the 18 gallon can here. I returned the smaller one and bought the 18 gallon from Amazon. It works great and we love it. I don't have a problem with it opening when someone walks by. I mean, it happens sometimes, but it doesn't bother me at all...it's so quiet I don't even notice it. And it only happens if someone comes within about a foot of it. It holds plenty of trash, looks good, and works well. We're very, very happy with it and would never go back to an old fashion manual trash can.
