Not Worth The Money,
By BJ (Port Orchard) - See all my reviews
This review is from: iTouchless Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
I bought this product in September 2008, by December the lid motor went out, so they sent me a new one. Now it is March and the new lid motor is going out. They offered me a new lid at 10% off, I said no thanks, I'm getting one with a step on lid, my foot still works.

what's the point of a trash can that spills your trash on the floor?,
By Rekrab Mailliw (New England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: iTouchless Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
I use pretty high quality bags (those forceflex ones) and just about one in 10 or so bags will rip as I'm pulling them out of the can. The can is rolled in at the top, so the top of the can is narrower than the body. If you have anything at the bottom of your trash bag, it will catch on the metal lip, and then if you pull too hard your bag will split open and spill everything onto your kitchen floor!
Their customer service told me that I shouldn't fill it up so full - what a terrible suggestion! I'm going to see if I can return this thing. The previous model worked well for me for a year or so and then the plastic gear that opens the lid broke so I bought this newer version. In summary I hate this trash can and I feel like an idiot for paying so much to buy it!

Piece of Garbage,
By
This review is from: iTouchless Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
This truly is a piece of garbage. I've owned the original, rectangular iTouchless 13-gallon trash can and I can echo the other owners's experience that the lid is flimsy, mine broke after a year. This 2nd generation NX trash can is even less durable, even after having learned how to take precautions from damaging the lid (never touch it while it's operating), the mechanism still broke on its own after 3 months. Design-wise, it's a step in the wrong direction. The circular shape means that trash bags fit terribly, and the circular bag holder keeps is unable to hold the plastic and falls into the can. The lid itself is narrower than the original, its motor is louder and the infrared sensor is just as prone the original to activate inadvertently. How can this model be considered an improvement is beyond anyone's guess.

Bad Design,
By
This review is from: iTouchless Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
I had the original iTouchless trash can iTouchless Stainless-Steel Hands-Free 13-Gallon Infrared Automatic Trash Can that worked well for couple of years. When it broke, I bought this one thinking this is a newer upgraded version. Big mistake.
My experience is similar to the problems listed in other reviews. It was difficult to put the trash bag on to the "open ring". This open ring (that holds the trash bag in the trash can) was never stable for couple days. As soon as we put few things in the trash bag, the ring and the trash bag drop to the middle of the trash can. The sensor mechanism did not work as well as the original trash can. I had to keep fiddling with the battery compartment and the on/off switch. Overall, a lot more work than a trash can should need. Big waste of money.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The opening is a little small. I would get the rectangular model that's a little more expensive.

Keeps the dogs out of the trash,
By ChampagneSipper (Boise, ID USA) - See all my reviews

This can is perfect to keep the dog out of the trash, as this is a tallish can, and the sensor is on the top of the unit. It's the same price on Amazon as I got at Costco.com, but Costco charges to ship. I haven't had any of the aforementioned problems with the bag-holding ring, or installing batteries. Nice-looking too; would recommend.

Great size and operation, just a few very minor complaints,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: iTouchless Infrared Sensor Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
I like this trashcan, my only few complaints would be:
- the slightly delayed reaction in opening - the inside "mouth" of the can is smaller than most trashcans as they have to account for the section they put the motor/batteries for the electronic lid, so sometimes food when "dumped and thrown in capriciously" will hit the battery area, and requires a quick wipe so food doesn't get encrusted on there. - my trashbags don't stay in place that well, but it could be b/c i have cheap bags and need to get sturdier ones. - sometimes the lid closes too quickly on me, i.e. when i'm scraping off leftovers, BUT I do like the "keep open" function which I use when I'm cooking so I don't need to keep waving my hand over it and waiting that 1.5 seconds for it to react. For the most part, I like the look and uniqueness and I can deal with the aforementioned complaints just fine and would buy this product again.

Ring that Holds Trash Bag is flimsy,
By
This review is from: iTouchless Touchless Trash Can NX, Brush Stainless Steel. (Kitchen)
This is could be a nice product if the ring that holds the trash bag is sturdy. Ring is actually an open circle metal that expands. It really doesn't hold the trash bag well. A "ring" of thin metal wire (as thin as the wire on one's cellphone charger). I think the "ring" placed on one's finger is even thicker!
Problem: 1st: Bag doesn't have enough space to enclose the ring. 2nd: Ring slips out from the space provided for the ring inside the can. If bottom of trash is already heavy or one pushes trash hard, example, trying to fit the trash inside the can or pushing stuff inside for the extra space, it falls off so when the time for you to pull the trash bag out for replacement a lot of your trash ends up not inside the bag itself. Really messy! You also end up cleaning the inside of the can for any mess or residue that came in contact with the can. Not a pleasant job to do and a pleasant sight to see. Added work. They should have placed a thick ring, like the square iTouchless can or NZ's trash cans. This may be made of plastic but at least the bag is secured and doesn't fall off.

DO NOT buy this model,
By FLDonna (Tampa, Florida USA) - See all my reviews

My brother has the iTouchless Original 13-Gallon Stainless (model DZT13) I had mistakenly bought this round, 42 liter model (IT13RCB). It lasted 10 months. Had nothing but problems the entire time: false openings, the inner ring kept sliding off, noisy, etc. I found the original model that my brother owns and I am very happy with it. DO NOT buy this one. Instead buy the iTouchless Stainless-Steel Hands-Free 13-Gallon Infrared Automatic Trash Can (DZT13). It is square, has no 'false alarms', better design, cheaper, quiet and works very well.

Great for the first year, then worthless!,

Agree with the previous poster. Our motor is dying now after a year, so I guess we were lucky to have it work that long. I am shopping around for one with a foot pedal as well...as already mentioned at least you can rely on your foot and not worry about a motor burning out (especially so quick). They should be ashamed to market a product with such a limited life!
