Format: Perfect Paperback

The author deserves all the stars, and the history of Portugal, one that, for me was unknown until now, deserves also all the stars.
beautifully written, a real page turner, a story that is told in a way one doesn't have to double check because of the way he describes every character, this is an author who can write a book and one really learns, this is an author that takes you to understand our past.

After visiting Río de Janeiro, i was interested in learning about Brasil ' history and colonization. this is the perfect book to read. It was an excelent book to start . Very detailed and descriptive Love the way the author explain everything. I am missing the second part, it would be perfect to have a second book about Pedro II life.

I read the spanish version of the book and I am really surprised how some people deny it's superb quality. I strongly recommend this book. As a novel the fiction part makes it a pleasurable read and keeps you hooked till the end. The author made the understanding of Brazilian history a delightful read.

A lot is discussed regarding the beginnings of the country of Brasil, the sacrificies to be made by the family business ,in this case the monarchy. The role of the men and women at home and as rulers, which has not changed much after all this years.
A very enjoyable description of the land and its beauty.
