4.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect but close enough and worth it.
These socks offer a medium level of compression while also allowing each toe to be free in its movement. Even though these socks do not squeeze my calves as tight as other brands they do work as described. On a scale of 1 to 10, with the 2XU brand properly fitted being a 8 I'd say these are a 5. That said, more than enough for the compression I need for recovery while...

1.0 out of 5 stars $40 Ankle Weights
I bought these socks to go with my FiveFingers to train for and run another marathon. The first time I wore them was for a 13 mile training run. I was very impressed, and do believe that they reduced leg fatigue. Later I wore them for a 6.5 mile trail race with several water crossings. As soon as I hit the first water crossing, they slid right down to my ankles and would...

That said, more than enough for the compression I need for recovery while also being allowed to wear my fivefingers around the house or outside. They are cheaper too, in both cost and construction quality. They are made out of different material than the other injiinji toe socks I own.

I'm a ultra runner and triathlete. I wear a size 11 but fit into the medium size.

1.0 out of 5 stars $40 Ankle Weights, September 24, 2011

I bought these socks to go with my FiveFingers to train for and run another marathon. The first time I wore them was for a 13 mile training run. I was very impressed, and do believe that they reduced leg fatigue. Later I wore them for a 6.5 mile trail race with several water crossings. As soon as I hit the first water crossing, they slid right down to my ankles and would not stay up the rest of the race. I thought it was a problem specific to being soaked while running. I wore them again a few weeks later for a 5k road race. Within the first mile they were both down around my ankles again. I just paid $40 for a set of ankle weights!

2.0 out of 5 stars okay for fat calves, January 24, 2010

I love Injinji socks. I use them in my Vibram five fingers. I bought these socks for travel and after running races. They are nice, easy to get on, but woefully loose. I bought a pair, discovered that they were too big in the calf, so I downsized. The smaller size was only shorter. The sock barely stays up on my calves. The material is fine, the workmanship is great (like all the other Injinji socks), but they offer no compression for my calves. I am a distance runner, and like the idea of a recovery sock. These socks are far too loose to offer any compression unless you are a person with substantial calves! Since most distance runners are thin, I can't recommend these for skinny people! Sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect for my needs (I'm not a runner!), December 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Prologue: For the last two years, I've only worn Vibrams. Every day. Rain, snow, summer, whatever. Before I wore the vibrams, I was spraining my ankles every couple of months. Now, no sprains in over two years, despite the fact that my ligaments are still too loose and pop out of their groove every so often.

The problem is winter. Before the vibrams, I'd amassed a nice collection of knee-high socks that kept me happily warm. But, they weren't toe socks. Until now, no one made a decent knee-high toe sock. I went ahead and cut the toes out of an old pair of socks just to wear with my vibrams, but that was a little awkward. And my middle toes get cold.

Now, the Injinji socks are not made of wool, so they are likely going to be a disappointment to me in deep snow, and probably freezing rain too. But they've been great in 30-degree weather, matched with my leather Treks. I've gone ahead and ordered two more pairs, despite the fact that they are ridiculously expensive. I can't find them in any local stores.

I wear a womens 9 shoe, and ordered a medium. I don't have any problems with them staying where they should, but I do have very sturdy calves. The compression is noticeable, but not strong. But then, my needs here are pretty minimal- I just want my shins to stay covered.

4.0 out of 5 stars They Run Large, August 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Be sure and order a size down possibly 2. They are quite large but still give a decent amount of compression. I get cramps in my toes at night so i wear these to bed and they disappear. I will be buying the shorter ones for summer though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great feeling socks, but buy one size smaller than normal, March 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought a pair of these in black. I followed the advice of another reviewer and went a size smaller than I usually go with and they fit perfectly.
The socks are made of a nice thick material and the fit is great. They provide great compression, but not over the top.
I have two pair of the Injinji microsocks too (much thinner material, but high quality as well) and love the way the socks fit each toe. They have completely done away with my rough and tumble toes, no more blisters and painful areas around the toe knuckles after long runs.
They seem to be very high quality and I believe they will stand the test of time, we'll see...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compression socks, March 7, 2011

The numbers fit on a bit large so instead of taking L as I calculated I was suppose to do, I would buy M next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome pair of compression toesocks, June 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After hearing the virtues of playing hockey barefoot (better "feel" for the ice, better stability since your toes spread) but not wanting to deal with the blisters and callouses that my friends have, I found the perfect socks for ice skating! Although the sizing diagram recommended a large (I have a mens 11.5EE shoe size) I opted for the medium sizing and couldn't be happier. These offer great compression in the calf and shin, they keep my feet dry and prevent blisters, and are light and breathable enough to not overheat my feet. They are rather expensive for a pair of socks (not to mention they take about 2 minutes per foot to get on), but I love mine so much I bought an additional 2 pairs the other day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for my purposes, December 29, 2010
I personally use these socks as "under socks" while playing soccer and have found the fit and compression to be perfect for that use. I have a general athletic build (with a bit more muscle in the legs)and these socks fit very well and have no problem staying up through very active use. Additionally, these socks breath well as the base layer and have kept me from getting the normal rubbing blisters from new shoes. Overall i'm very happy with these socks for this type of use and will be getting a second pair.

2.0 out of 5 stars sizing confusing, June 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
All Injinji products are great, but my only issue was the sizing. I picked the size that matched my calf size and when the socks came in, I could barely get them on. After finally getting them on, when I began to run my toes went numb. I obviously got a size too small. I will probably return them or sell them to a buddy. From now on I will only buy Injinji from a retail store.
