Cool, but very Fragile,

My fiance and I bought four of these because they're so damn cool. Unfortunately the design, by virtue of what it is, makes it very fragile and top heavy. The very first time we drank out of them I tipped mine over (by barely grazing it with my hand) and it toppled and shattered across the dinner table. We laughed and thought, "oh well, one down," but it happened again the very next night. At this point my fiance just thought I was being clumsy and she made fun of me, only to do the very same thing herself a few days later. The problem is that the circumference of the bottom is smaller than the top, and when these things have champagne in them they basically topple at the slightest touch or graze. Oh, and for the record, neither of us has ever broken a champagne glass before (scouts honor).
So basically these things look really cool, but unless you've got the grace of Baryshnikov be prepared to break a few. We've got one left and we're afraid to touch it.

Red Envelope has the best price I've seen for these champagne glasses - even less than the manufacturer!
These are great hostess gifts, or just neat to have available for your own use. They are so unusual that they won't go unnoticed! I love them for champagne...while Riedel is thinner and adds more to the flavor, you can't beat these for keeping your champagne chilled. I plan to purchase more - they will make great gifts for anyone who loves champagne or Prosecco, or any other sparkling wine.
