"If you want to understand psychoanalysis this is the book you read first.

"Here is Freud's one complete presentation of the whole science which he founded. These 28 lectures to laymen set forth the fundamental theories upon which all modern psycholanalysis is based. Yet they are simple, almost conversational in tone. They sum up the results of a lifetime of devoted, painstaking research.

"Frued describes with a startling frankness the methods and results of pychoanalysis and also its difficulties and limitations-as only a master and originator of a new school of thought could do.

"Today Frued is generally recognized as one of the two or three great creative minds of the cenetury. It is not necessary to accept his theories in their entirety to recogfnize the fact that Freud's work has profoundly influenced the thinking of our time."
