I saved up my summer paychecks and decided to get this mp3 player, Over-all it is a great great mp3 player, I love it, the Sound quality is Great, however there are a few things in particular that are excellent. getting music is pretty easy as with all music these days. There is a brief delay in switching tracks where you hear a clicking-like sound, but i expect to forget about that in due time.
In terms of software its Easy easy easy to use in conjunction with Windows Media players, it took me a few days to adjust of course though, but i expect thats natural for these things. Its pretty easy to get music these days whichever way you get it. In terms of transferring music, such as an individual album its pretty fast taking proportional time to the amount of music. Im really satisfied with it, the battery life is great! Its a Great Mp3 player I reccommend it over an I-pod as well! It has alot of features that just beat-out the ipod, if your using an 80 GB i-pod you are crazy!! No, Insane. if you have that much music you are pretty XD anyways I love this mp3 player and ty Nv for reccomending it to me, i'd reccomend it to my friends and everyone

I've had my iRiver H10 for about a year. I haven't had any problems with sound quality.

I plug it into the charger every night, which keeps the battery charged. I've only had one time where the battery went dead between charges.

Negatives:
I had to send it back to be repaired under warranty because the touchpad stopped working. The tech support people were very fast and helpful in handling my request. It took about three weeks turn-around time before my repaired player was returned to me.

The player freezes up and becomes unresponsive way too often. I don't mind reformatting it once in awhile, but you shouldn't have to do it once or twice a month, which seems to be the rate that I've been having it freeze up on me. Tech support was NOT helpful with this issue. After talking to them a couple of times, I came to realize that it's just one of the quirks with this product, and there isn't really anything that the tech support people can do about it. If you buy one of these, make sure that you download the Firmware Updater program from the iRiver website, because you're going to need it whenever you have to reformat the player.

I found that you won't have to reformat it as often if you treat it with kid gloves. While it's syncing, don't use Windows Media Player to do anything else. Don't play any songs; don't browse your library. Let it have complete focus on syncing. Don't unplug the USB cable until the player tells you to do so. If it appears to get stuck while it's syncing, don't push any buttons or click anything in WMP. Just leave it alone, and it usually becomes un-stuck after a few minutes.

The instruction book incorrectly shows that Windows will assign a drive letter to the player when you plug it in with the USB cable. This is not true. You cannot use it like a drive. You can only add/remove files through Windows Media Player.

I don't think the shuffle feature works very well. When you have a large amount of files on the player, it has a tendency to pick tracks that have titles close to the beginning of the alphabet. For example, if you have 800 tracks on the player and play it on shuffle for an hour, 75% of the songs that you hear will start with the letters A-I, and there might not be any songs that start with letters P-Z. According to the iRiver website, the latest firmware is supposed to fix this problem, but it doesn't.

In short, it has some problems that I've learned to live with, but I don't think I'd recommend this product to anyone else, and I wouldn't buy another one for myself.

I wanted 6 GB of storage and a color screen.
And really I don't care for iPods.
So I got what I wanted in this unit, which is lovely to behold.
The sound is excellent, and the included headphones are pretty good. The screen in beautiful. It's got a radio and a voice recorder. And it makes me happy every time I look at it.

Now the downside: You have to enjoy fiddling with electronics.
A lot. It is just not simple to load or use, and I think this is because of the juncture of the tricky-to-use Windows Media Player and the unit's own interface. You -will- scratch your head.
Out loud.

Then you get it loaded ... and so where is my music?
In the browser only. Yah! The pix look terrific though.

Anyway, I solved my problems ... using the Mystic River boards,
the UMS trick and Easy H10. Don't know what those are?
Um, you will ...

So, it's good, but be prepared to play with it before you play it.

Let me start by saying that I did extensive research before I bought this product.
I knew I wanted the Iriver H10 but I wasn't sure which one (theres so many lol) I saw some reviews on the 6 GB that were questionable, the syncing problems, people dropped it and it broke(go figure) and of coarse some people had it for only a few days and it just stopped working...
I knew I was going on vacation in a few days and I really needed more than 2 GB (I have another player)SanDisk SDMX3-2048 Sansa M250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)I finally broke down and bought this product. I am elated that I did.
I think the price is what finally sold me on this H10, It was under 100 dollars and in excellent shape.
Now on to the pros and cons (cus thats why your here)

Pros-
1 Inexpensive
2 Its a sleek and beautiful player
3 Easy to navigate and control
4 Small enough to fit in almost any pocket (it fits in my carpenter jeans small pockets on the side but I know they vary in size)
5 6GB is enough for most people. I am already looking forward to the 20GB
6 Although small the picture screen is brilliant.
7 The device already had the firmware upgrade
8 I tend to shy away from talking about the things that come with these products,(accessories such as headphones and belt-clips)mainly because we are supposed to be reviewing the product not the package.
However, IMO the belt clip is well made and I will use it on occasion, I didn't receive the headphones because I got it from a seller through Amazon.(I wouldn't want any headphones that come with a device like this, I like to buy my own.Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Black)
The charger/usb thingie is fine with me, others may find it awkward but its actually quite convenient in my book.

Cons-
1 First I can think of is it did take me a while to sync music via WMP, I am not familiar with WMP because I use Winamp for all of my music and playlists. This was the biggest fault of the player so-far, It was a headach to put music on the way I wanted it However, once I got the music on with the playlists, I don't think I will have any more trouble with this issue, Word to the wise, if you buy this I hope you know your way around WMP. I am fairly computer literate and I still couldn't do what I wanted it to through Windows Explorer.
2 Second, Be aware if you are buying with pictures in mind, this player is smaller than advertised... I thought "you know its just as big as a deck of cards" You get a deck of cards out, this player is smaller in width and much smaller in depth. the length is about 1/4 of an inch longer than a card. My point? The picture itself will be an inch wide. (I am not in any way complaining... I simply had no idea how small this thing was. That might be a good thing to most of you)
3 I have heard the tick in-between songs, this does not bother me at all but seeing as some people are really paranoid about that I will list it as a fault.
4 Do realize that this is a 6GB hard-drive, you will not skip to another song in .5 seconds. I am patient and do not mind the waiting (its an mp3 player not a radio. Oops it is a radio, Oh well you know what I meant.)

I guess thats just about it. To wrap up, I am really happy I bought it, it came in time for me to get all the music on it before I leave for vacation in a few days.(thanks to the seller)(and Amazon.)(:
Like I said before, I will be looking forward to buying the 20 GB sometime in the future.

I just got my H10, 6gb in the mail yesterday. I was immediately surprised how much was in the box. I got a decent pair of head phones with it, plenty of manuals to help me every step of the way too. I first charged it, which only took a half of an hour at half battery life to start with. I then ran into my first and only problem, when I tried to install the new firmware, my computer ran into an error, so I called iRiver, but they had no idea what to do. Not long after getting off of the phone, I tried it on my other computer, and it worked the first time.

To get my music onto it, I opened WMP 10, selected the songs that I wanted on it and put them into the sync list. 16 minutes and 1.33 giga bytes later, my mp3 player was all ready for me to listen to it. Today, I have listen to it for a couple of hours already, and I just broke the first power bar, so I am expecting over 10 hours of battery life for it. Also, the picture quality is great on it, I mean spectacular for such a small screen. The only downfall is that, the smaller screen, but then again who really buys an mp3 player just to look at pictures? The other features on this device work awesomely, especially the FM radio, I get crystal clear music stations at my house.

Overall this mp3 player is a great, great piece of machinery. It has work perfectly for me so far, and it is from a quality provider so I know that it will work for me in the future. A must buy for iPod haters.

If I had known how cumbersome it would be to load songs and how poorly written the instruction manual was, I would not have purchased this item, which is now fuctioning fairly well after too many hours of preparation.
