The N10 can be recharged automatically through the USB connector cable, and its internal lithium polymer battery eliminates the need for a separate battery. A mere hour and a half of recharging from a completely drained state can provide you with up to 11 hours of playback time. The N10's eye-catching, 16-gray Organic EL display has a special coating that generates stunning luminosity and sharp contrast yet consumes very little power. It also features a versatile screen saver.
The N10 includes a SAD (Sound Activity Detector) function that records only when sound is detected, which saves memory space as well as power, giving you the highest efficiency in voice recording. The tangle-free necklace-type earphone not only provides the utmost in convenience but also a sense of style and grace; it's also compatible with any other earphones of your choosing.

This review is from: iriver N10 128 MB Flash Portable MP3 player (Electronics)
_______PROs:_______
-No propreitary connector. Connected with a standard mini USB plug, so I can cheaply have a mulitple cable/adapters already plugged into each PC that works for several devices. (and I carry a tiny mini USB to USB adapter in my pocket) -Charges through USB. I have a USB car power adapter so it charges while I drive. (No AAAs needed... :) Battery life is great I have never had it quit before the 2 hours of music is done. -Once you flash it to newest the firmware (see below link) it uses UMS so the driver install disk is not needed on most modern PCs. (Basically it becomes a little USB jump/thumb/flash-drive) Great if you travel from PC to PC a lot or want to grab something from a friend's computer. http://www.iriver.com/html/support/download/sudw_list.asp?searchProductIdx=31 -Lightwieght and tiny. -Pretty. Nice form factor, pretty LED display and black goes with everything. -Necklace headphones are clever and work well for me. Also has non-headphone necklace included in case you want to use your own. -Controls are intuitive -Fast Transfers. Before flashing the firmware I could fill the drive in less than a minute. The UMS is slower, about 3 minutes to fill but much easier to use. __________________ ______CONs:_______ -Impossible to read the display in sunlight, it washes out. -Until you flash the firmware you need to use their special app/drivers to connect it to a PC. You need to google the firmware because their support site does not list it under n10 downloads. (eveb though it is an official update from their site) -You cannot use the player while charging it. Not an issue for most folk since you will not charge it while walking. And you are not going to have headphones plugged in while use have it in you computer. For car use however you can either charge the battery or play MP3s, not both. So it is not for long road trips... -No variable speed scan. To fast forward you hold down the next track button. It fast forwards a set rate and does not get faster. No problem for 5 minute songs but I listen to podcasts of 30-60 minutes and it is painfull to scan through if you accidentally skip to the next track.
