4.0 out of 5 stars Good MP3 Player
irock 830 is a very good MP3 player.
It has 128MB memory, plays mp3/wma and also has a FM tuner.

3.0 out of 5 stars mostly works for me
pros
128MB is enough to get me through an hour workout or a long jog. I basically wanted a tuner and a mp3 player to resort to when NPR gets boring.
It's worked with every mp3 file I've stuck on it, so there's no proprietary format issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good MP3 Player, February 15, 2004

irock 830 is a very good MP3 player.
It has 128MB memory, plays mp3/wma and also has a FM tuner.
I've used RIO Mp3 player and I would rate this much better than that. I got this from buy.com for a very cheap price.

The pros:
1.Small and lightweight.
2.Good user interface.
3.Software for downloading the files onto the player is simple and effective.
4.FM tuner has 20 presets.
5.Plays MP3/WMA formats.
6.Sleek leather case.

The cons:
1.The earplugs which come along with the player is useless.
2.The forward/previous buttons are difficult to use.
3.Equaliser settings are predefined and cannot be changed.
4.Does not display the running time of a song.

I would definitely recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars a very good buy for its price, January 23, 2004
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
I bought the irock mp3 player last month, and its been really great using it so far. its easy to set up, and very light. It comes with a cool leather carrying case that seems to be very well designed. the earphones that come with it are pretty good, but not the best. Its biggest pro is the music quality and the easy-to-use interface. Its even got an FM tuner, which ought to come in handy when you don't have any songs to play. Another major plus is the battery. It uses AA and the battery life is pretty good. If you already have rechargeable batteries like me, its perfect for you
Now for the cons - the FM tuner isn't really that good, and it doesn't pick up anything but the strongest signals. The headphones aren't really good for running as they keep falling off (they did for me)
Otherwise, I would rate it as a very good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great mp3 player..., September 30, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
I got this as a present from my sister a few months ago and really like it. The sound quality is perfect, the radio reception is REALLY good, the side scroll buttons aren't messed up(all those other whiners were complaining that it was hard to use)and for its price this mp3 is really worth it. The battery life is also VERY good(it plays for like 30 hours on 1 AA battery). Also, nobody has said how good the software is. Its easy to use, downloads to the player super fast(like 5 or 6 seconds at the most) and if youre new to downloading music or using mp3s, the manual isnt one of those crappy 10 page ones that dont help in any way. By the way that loser who said this mp3 holds "20 songs"
is comepletely lying. I got 40 songs on here, but it still depends on how big the songs file sizes are to say how many songs you can fit on to it. Either way, if you dont need 5000 songs and
some gaint(and super expensive)Ipod or Dell DJ, then get this.

BUT THERE ARE SOME PROBLEMS....I have to be honest that there are a few issues with this player, but they still arent bad enough that you shouldnt buy it. First of all, my mp3 like freezes every once in a while which is sort of annoying. It will be playing music and then for no reason, the song will cut off and there will be this loud "beeeepppp"(why i gave it 4 stars), but nobody else has mentioned it so the problem might just be with mine, and its pretty rare for it to freeze anyways. The other thing (as others have said) was that the headphones are crap. They dont even fit in my freakin ears! Its also annoying, but there are plenty of nice headphones out there for 20 bucks, so if you are even thinking of buying an mp3 player, you can afford headphones too.

So hopefully youll buy this mp3 player, its a good price, and to those of you who have this mp3 player, write a review about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I Recommend The iRock 830, February 14, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
The iRock 830 is small and very light. It comes with a leather case, a neck strap, a USB cable, a battery (AA), and software. It sync's with MusicMatch which was one reason I selected it.

The iRock 830 will hold about an hour and a half of good quality MP3 files. The battery life is as advertised. Downloading songs to it can be done in Windows by dragging files into the drive assigned to the player or by using MusicMatch (or probably any music player).

The 20 FM presets were easy to set. The whole player was very intuitive to use.

The earbuds produce good quality sound but won't work well for running. They will pop out continually. I have headphones which stay in place when I run so I just use those.

The back lit screen is very easy to see despite being small.

Overall I am very happy with the iRock 830.

3.0 out of 5 stars mostly works for me, May 4, 2004
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
pros
128MB is enough to get me through an hour workout or a long jog. I basically wanted a tuner and a mp3 player to resort to when NPR gets boring.
It's worked with every mp3 file I've stuck on it, so there's no proprietary format issues.
No software is necessary, but the stuff that comes bundled is very straightforward.
Small, light and easy to stow places when exercising.
Can't complain about battery use, but then I've got rechargeables specifically for my portable stuff.

cons

Without the leather case it looks cheaper than those prizes that come out of gumball machines.
The interface involves a lot of rocking and pushing one switch along the edge of the player. If you don't press and hold more or less exactly right, it takes you to an options screen or (infuriatingly) to a screen that gives an irock web address.
I dunno if anyone else has this problem, but I cannot get my preset channels to hold for more than a week at a time.
Goes without saying, but the included earbuds are garbage.
128 MB shouldn't cost close to $100 in April 2004. I'd shop around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and Easy MP3 Player, November 11, 2004
By
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
This is a very easy MP3 player to copy songs to and delete from. As soon as you plug in the USB cable, the drive appears in Windows Explorer. You can copy usually about 20 MP3 files (songs) at one time. What I like best about this MP3 player is that you don't need special software to copy songs on to the player. I have had the Rio Cali and I River that both required special software that was time consuming to use. After owning 4 MP3 players, this is my favorite.

This player is a perfect small player ideal for working out with. If you are in the market for a hard drive MP3 player with a large capacity, this is not the player for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Player, April 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
I have used this player for over a year with no problems at all. Battery life is excellent. You can get many more songs on this player than the 20 that was stated from a previous reviewer. I am currently running 70 songs on mine. You can do this by reducing the bitrate of the songs. If you are walking, running, or biking this quality is plenty good. You can use MusicMatch, Windows Media Player, or the provided software to load your music. I think that this is a real fine player if you can get it in the $70-$90 range.

1.0 out of 5 stars irock 830, April 4, 2004

This review is from: irock! 830 MP3 Player (128 MB) (Electronics)
I got this for X-mas in 2003. I am now in the market for a better MP3. In General this mp3 player sucks. A nice MP3 that holds up to 60 hrs. of songs like the apple Ipod or the Dell DJ is a much better MP3! not like this which only carries 20 songs!!! which is better? The only good thing about this is the fm radio. The bateries didnt last very long AND IT ONLY HOLDS 20 SONGS! TRUST ME YOU ARE GOING TO RUN OUT OF ROOM VERY FAST. In my opinon you should buy a Dell DJ 15 GB it is cheaper the Apple Ipod 15 GB. so you won't be spending to much on the same and not to little on 20 SONGS!
