Perfect for use indoors or out, jWIN's slender JD-VD743 portable DVD player features a 7-inch widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) LCD designed to match the image dimensions of your favorite movies. It plays DVD-Video (both NTSC and PAL-formatted discs), audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded music discs. You can even enjoy an onscreen slideshow of your cherished digital photos from recordable CDs filled with JPEG image files, including Kodak Picture CDs, which offer greater viewing flexibility. The player comes with audio/video output jacks, letting you use it in the home as a high-quality video source device using supplied AV cables, and its AV input permits use as a monitor for a camcorder, gaming device, or VCR.

If you've got a high-definition or HD-ready TV, you're in luck: the player even provides progressive-scan video outputs optimized for high-res sets. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. A standard composite-video output facilitates a connection to just about any television.

A pair of minijack stereo headphone outputs makes the player well suited to back seat use by the kids, or for simply watching discs or listening to music with a companion. Headphones are not included, but the unit does feature built-in stereo speakers for ready enjoyment of movies and music.

The JD-VD743 comes with an AC/DC power adapter to conserve batteries during indoor use and a convenient DC vehicle adapter for battery-free enjoyment in your car, RV, or boat.

I chose this product for it's affordable price considering it is progressive scan. It was also important to me that it play MP3 formatted music, which it does. The LCD screen is sharp with good color. The buttons are easy to use. I'm happy with this product. The biggest minus I found is that the sound is difficult to hear in the car, so we had to buy an adapter to play the sound through the car stereo, which works great. The product also feels like cheap plastic, but looks decent. For the price, I can't complain.

I have had mine for about 18 months and use it all the time. No problems so far. I even discovered that mine will play region 2 DVDs. The only issue with the battery is that if it will not charge if it is not totally dead. Since i discovered this my battery lasts about the full 3 hours.

The rechargeable battery pack lasts an entire 10 minutes! And don't even attempt to find a company on-line to complain to, no such animal exists. Other than that, keep it plugged in all the time (could buy a regular DVD player for about 30 bucks if that was the point) Not mobile at all. Spend your money somewhere else
