2.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking, but doesn't play so well.
While the look of the system is stylish, and does offer the feature of being wall-mounted I found the operation less than satisfactory. It is very easy to assemble. While the look of the system is stylish, and does offer the feature of being wall-mounted I found the operation less than satisfactory. It is very easy to assemble. I was shocked at how loud the motor sounds when opening and closing the disk covers. Though, initially I figured I might as well get use to that. One of my first issues was sorting through MP3 albums. I have several disks of MP3's that have many artists as well as sub albums for each artist. The display of the system would only tell me the name of the album once I started playing the songs, not the artist. On other systems you can see the name of the album before actually having to play the album, and once playing it displays the artist information/track information as well. Hence the menu options were not exactly "user friendly." When selecting the next album there was a sort of lapse where the system would play a second or two of the previous track, from the previous album which was a sort of disturbing sound. Followed by this was silence and then the first track of the selected album would play. I thought this was peculiar but could over look it. What I could not over look was the fact that it skipped way too easily on disks. (MP3 and CD disks alike). On one of my CD's, bought from a store even, skipped awfully on a certain track. This disk was not scratched badly and seemed to have played fine in the past. When I played the same song from the same album in my portable CD/MP3 player, it played perfectly! So in my humble opinion, if this system is about three times as expensive then it should also play so well.
In troubleshooting I made sure the system was level and cleaned the laser heads to make sure it wasn't due to dust from shipping. The remote doesn't work at a distance of more than a few feet.
Ultimately, I did return the system. Thankfully Amazon.com is good about issuing returns in a timely manner! Buyer beware, although you may like this system more than I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bookshelf System! jWIN JXCD8700 4-CD/MP3 CD Vertical-Loading Hi-Fi System (, May 13, 2009
This review is from: jWIN JXCD8700 4-CD/MP3 CD Vertical-Loading Hi-Fi System (Electronics)

This system is very retro looking - It stands upright and is about 5" deep- a good small space unit. The 4 cds are in the face of the unit - easy to load and unload. For a small unit, this has great sound. Con's would be very small buttons on the face of the unit and very small buttons on the remote. If you can deal with this, the unit is A++ in its' price range. I would definitely puchase it again and have recommended it to friends. The difficulty is finding a seller.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: jWIN JXCD8700 4-CD/MP3 CD Vertical-Loading Hi-Fi System (Electronics)
I bought this product because of it modern design. I have installed in on the wall next to the LCD flat panel TV hanging on the same wall. It looks great and it works fine. It does come with a sub woofer output connector. I have connected a powered subwoofer to this connector and the sound is great. I first tried using an unpower subwoofer, and there was no sound, the signal coming out of the subwoofer port is not amplified very much. I have to turn the powered subwoofer's amplification all the way to the max, but then the sound is very acceptable. Without the subwoofer, the sound is very tinny, what you would expect from a clock radio, which is what this product seems to be designed as. There are no input connector, so you cannot connect a mp3 player, iPod, CD player or anything to this product. However, I bought an FM transmitter, so I can play music from my mp3 player by connecting the mp3 player to the FM transmitter and setting the receiver to the FM transmitter's frequency. It works!
So if you want good styling with good sound, buy this unit along with a powered subwoofer. Without the power subwoofer, the styling is fine, but the sound has no bass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great home stereo system!, June 17, 2011
This review is from: jWIN JXCD8700 4-CD/MP3 CD Vertical-Loading Hi-Fi System (Electronics)
I love that it mounts on walls so easily with a decent amount of wire for speaker mounting (surround sound). The table-top option doesn't take away from the sleekness of the look and appeal of the unit. I would agree to reviews that the sound isn't what you would expect from a system that costs $350 new, but after reading the reviews before I purchased it, I decided to take the risk and go for a higher quality unit than I am used to...and it far exceeded my expectations. The preset equalizers are distinct and work very well. Sound is balanced and everything from base to high end come through clearly, and the quality far surpasses cheaper units. The WOW factor is nice, as well, as it just looks sleek and stylish. The blue glowing display is modern and easy to read, and the subtle blue back-light behind the disks is just the right accent to the system. I've never had so many complements on a stereo system, and treating myself to such a nice unit at the price I paid was well worth it!
