Book Description

November 9, 2010
On this, the auspicious 10th anniversary of jackass, this deluxe hardbound photo book will celebrate and commemorate this iconic crew for lasting so long in the “here-today-gone-tomorrow” world of entertainment pop culture. The book will not only span the 10 years of jackass, but will also include the Big Brother magazine days that came before and ultimately gave birth to the franchise on MTV, as well as a few of the other entertainment projects between, i.e. Viva La Bam, Wildboyz, and Nitro Circus.

Reaching deep into the archives, the book will feature reproductions of Big Brother covers featuring Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Wee-Man, and Steve-O; subscription ads featuring Knoxville, Chris Pontius, and Wee-Man; skateboard shots of Bam, Pontius, and Wee-Man (possibly Dave England, too); Knoxville’s original “Self-Defense Test” article; random Steve-O and Knoxville stunt photos; and various stupid/embarrassing images of the staff.

Thereafter it will be a treasure trove of the most memorable and never-before-seen (deemed too controversial for television) images of the jackass stars doing what they do best. Not just a great gift for jackass fans, a truly remarkable document that will be as mesmerizing as it is shocking.

About the Author

Sean Cliver, a former native of Wisconsin, started out in the graphic arts profession, designing skateboard graphics for companies such as Powell-Peralta, World Industries, Blind, 101, Birdhouse, and Hook-Ups, but eventually sidetracked into the writing trade with the formation of Big Brother skateboard magazine in 1992. During his tenure on the magazine staff, he was one of the core individuals responsible for the creation and production of the Big Brother skateboard video series, the more absurd aspects of which eventually led to the creation of jackass on MTV in 2000. Under a variety of nebulous “producer” titles, Sean worked on the television series, as well as both jackass films and the Wildboyz television series. In addition to his Hollywood production work, he’s authored and compiled jackass the Movie: The Official Companion Book (2002), Disposable: A History of Skateboard Art (2004), and The Disposable Skateboard Bible (2009). He’s currently involved in the production of jackass 3D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Timeline, January 7, 2011
By
This review is from: jackass: 10 Years of Stupid (Hardcover)
I received this book for Christmas from my friend after we devoured Wildboyz and then became huge Jackass fans watching everything we could about this group of funny guys.
Obviously I'm a bit late fan than others, so this book was a fantastic read for me (I didn't know about the back story or how they began at all!) There's not too many pages of actual writing, mostly just pictures with captions, but what writing there is tells the whole story of Jackass from the very beginning of Big Brother Magazine on to the franchise that it is today. It was great to know the how everything happened from a guy that's been there since the beginning.
With that being said, I do think you need to be a huge fan of the guys, the stunts or really anything to do with them and/or dickhouse productions to get this book, but then again, who else is really going to buy this? Ha!
I loved looking at the pictures and reminiscing over the different stunts. There are times you will laugh out loud at the pictures, at the captions, at the stories. I was even reading it at my Grandmother's and she wanted to know what I was laughing about, but how do you explain to an 80 year old woman how Chris Pontius doing a high kick naked is funny? Or a little person who calls himself Wee Man dressed up as a very pissed looking baby while Dimitry looks on and laughs is funny? You just can't, you have to love them all to look at these pictures and laugh.
The personal stories, memories and pictures make you feel as if you were a part of the action and a must have for any dedicated fan, old or new. It's a perfect coffee table book... as long as your guests don't mind looking at a few penises!

this book is perfect for a jackass fan. the book has a short explanation of how jackass started and where it was up until jackass 3d. there are mainly just photo's and little captions, but some stories to some photo's throughout the book. i thought this book was filled with the story, but the story behind jackass took up 30 pages out of about 200. great book though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book!!!, August 16, 2011

The book arrived much sooner than expected! It was in good, but not perfect condition which is okay because packages do tend to be tossed around when they are being delivered. Anyways this book is a must have for any Jackass fan! It contains tons of totally awesome uncensored pictures! It also tells the history of Jackass and anything else you want to know! Overall it's an awesome book and I will be reading it cover to cover, which means it's a great book because i'm not much of a reader.
