Ok, so this was a Christmas gift to me (I had been notoriously searching for a new burr grinder). The auto grind functionality (based on how much coffee your want to be ground) is pretty neat. Clean up isn't too bad, either. I haven't noticed any issues with filling up the hopper and the coffee getting stale, either (it has a pretty good seal around the top).

However, it is far from perfect.

The coarsest setting possible will get you coffee that is roughly the same size as grits (i.e. barely big enough for a french press - which is what I use). It is just about perfect for a drip coffee pot.

It is also very, very loud (but most coffee grinders are).

It would be a good value at ~$40, but not a cent more.

You don't need to look any further for a burr coffee grinder. Don't waste time with a blender type. For one person, I set the amount measure at 2 cups (minimum setting), grind at 7.5, use a funnel with a #4 paper cone filter to get at least 2 cups of fairly strong coffee. Freshly ground beans can give you the best flavor and you don't have to grind more than you need. I've used this machine daily for over 3 months and I'm very happy with it. After some experience, it is easy to operate with no mess. The regular price at Sears is $36.

This is a wonderful Burr Coffee Grinder with a 5 year warranty! I read the instructions, it was so easy to setup and use. Unlike reviews of other burr grinders, this one did not clog. The only mess I made on the counter was when I took off the lid of the output bin, not realizing that the grinds stuck to it. Cleanup was easy, although I did not use the included brush due to its small size. The top burr assembly comes apart and I was able to wash it in soap and water. The output bin cleaned up easily too. I emptied out the unused beans from the input bin, brushed the bottom burr, and wiped everything with a moist sponge. I did leave the input bin lid up so it could air dry overnight. In the morning, I reassembled everything, tucked in the cord, and pushed it out of the way. This unit is very quiet and fast. I like the auto-shutoff feature. I was able to grind the beans properly for my Le Creuset French Press, reviewed elsewhere, and make an amazing cup of joe! I'm very pleased. Now I need to try making espresso grind and provide an update.

I don't typically take the time to write reviews but after doing a lot of research on my quest to make a great cup of coffee using a french press, this fit the bill perfectly and deserves a positive review. It is simple to use, has a variety of settings (I use setting 7 or 8 for my french press and I get a clean cup every time), small enough to sit on a counter and does not take up too much space or is easily stored away in a cabinet like I do. If you are looking for a burr grinder at a reasonable price I highly recommend this one. I only hope that it will keep up the great work for years to come.

This coffee grinder performs way beyond my expectations. I find that I use a lot less grounds for my coffee. My old grinder could not grind nearly as fine. I bought it from Amazon after reading ratings on all the brands for ever. Cliff Foster

It's exactly what I wanted. Different grind sizes for different coffees. So easy to use and clean. I would recommend it to friends.

i bought mine at Sears for $35.00 and don't know why Amazon charges so much more. The grinder works great & can be adjusted for type grind and separately for number of cups to grind for. When the selected values are set , you press the start button & when done, it stops by itself

I would have liked this if the grinder selector dial hadn't stopped moving after a few uses. I bought mine from Sears online. When I called for a replacement, they have no more. My $6 shipping fee wouldn't be refunded when I returned it to the store, so I had to go to a lot of trouble on the phone (management) to get that refunded. I can't tell you how even the coarser grinds are, because we don't much care. It does fine and coarser. Just stopped working for us. I wouldn't recommend buying it, because there are no replacements out there if it stops working within a month, as ours did.

I should have checked elsewhere. Amazon usually has a fair price. When I went to the sears site to double-check, they sell it for about half. Will return this as soon as it arrives.

works well...I use it to grind spices and does a great job. I also use it for coffee and that works well too.
