The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I loved it the moment I got it. I never had any problems with it going in crooked like some of the other reviews, and although there's nothing to keep the case shut I knew that going into it and was generally happy with the product for the first couple weeks.

Then the case started to drain my Kindle battery far too quickly and I had to charge my Kindle every day. 3 weeks after my purchase I found that my Kindle wouldn't even turn on.

This is because of the case. It messes up the Kindle somehow, and while Kindle support was easily able to restart my Kindle and fix the problem, they told me to discontinue use of the case, and refunded me the $85 along with a $25 credit for my troubles.

In summary - save yourself the trouble and don't get a case that hooks into the side of your Kindle.

I love this cover, it is cute and stylish and I wanted a cover that would protect the screen when closed. It's a little hard to get the Kindle in the cover, as some other reviewers noted. The key is to insert the bottom peg first,and push it a little until it is all the way in. Then pull down the top peg and insert in the top, then release the peg and it should be flush against the middle binder part. To release, pull down the top peg and slide out.

I would have liked it better if there was a strap or something to hold it closed, but other than that it's great!

I received this as a Christmas present with my new Kindle. From the start, I noticed that my Kindle crashed or froze a lot; I thought it was just buggy. I mentioned the problem to a friend and she suggested that the metal hinges on the case were causing my Kindle to short out. Sure enough, I used the Kindle for a few days without this case and the problem was completely resolved - and the battery lasted much longer (no need to charge every single day). I called Amazon; the representative was extremely helpful and issued a credit for a new case (the lighted leather case, $60).

In the 7 weeks that I used The Great Gatsby case, the exterior print began to wear down (and it was just in my purse). The case has two interior slot pockets, but they're so close to the "spine" that they're useless. I also noticed that the interior of the case began to wear around the perimeter, where it touches the Kindle. And, as others have noted, the cover does not fold back; initially this didn't bother me, but now having used a case that does fold back, I much prefer it.
