5.0 out of 5 stars An incisive and prophetic book on the meaning of freedom., November 22, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The key to peace (Paperback)
I found this book, originally written in 1951, to be a profound, prophetic warning of the loss of the original American concepts of individual freedom in favor of the European socialist and Statist espousal of "class" or group "rights". Manion writes correctly that while the words "freedom" and "equality" are shared by both political systems, they mean entirely different things to the people using those words. An excellent book that truly shows, unfortunately by contrast, how far down the road towards socialism we've traveled in 1997 and how many freedoms we've lost in the intervening years since our country was established.
