The photo of the ginger on the product page is fresh. What I received was anything but fresh.

When ginger is fresh, it looks like the photo. It is very firm, plump, no wrinkles and no softness.

I received a large piece and a small piece of ginger. About 40% of the largest piece was soft and very wrinkled. The smaller piece was old enough that one side had totally caved-in.

I suppose you cannot expect more when you have to contact the sell two times to ask WHERE IS MY STUFF? The product was ordered on 12-15-2012 and received on 1-14-13, a month later. Maybe, this is why it was not fresh.

I have used Amazon for years, and have made over 100 purchases, and this is the first time I have panned a product and its provider, and deservedly so.

Ginger is great, what is to say about it? You can eat it in a million ways, including raw -- just wash it with a potato brush and you don't even need to peel it, especially if it's young like here (mature ginger tends to be rather fibrous; young is much less so). But watch the prices: ginger is available at Wegman's for four sixty-nine a pound, no shippiing involved. And in my local Indian store they sell young ginger for between two and four bucks a pound. One has to marvel at how these little mom-and-pop stores manage to offer a better assortment of better quality produce at a fraction of the cost of similar stuff in large stores, including online. These days when I shop, I start my tour with the local Indian, Russian, and Asian stores/markets. Only then do I go to my Superfresh/Acme/etc. -- if at all. And I only buy online after making sure the price is good and stable (prices jump around a lot and can double overnight). Bottomline: this ginger here is very good, and it's come down quite a bit lately, but at my local Indian store is still cheaper (and just as good).

This ginger arrived in small pieces, skin discolored, and not really all that fresh, soft spots. It arrived in a thin paper envelope instead of a small box, so it got beat up in delivery. It's 'OK' for use, but expected better.

Order placed on the 3rd, arrived on the 22nd. I got 11 oz, not 14.

This seller is communicative and friendly, but should work on having product on hand and ready to ship out -- most people expect and are willing to pay priority mail prices for produce... this product could have shipped in a small flat rate box for not much more than the first class postage charged.

I gave excellent seller feedback (which has mysteriously disappeared) even before the product arrived based on the friendly communication. I may give them another chance if I can't find another source, but next time I would expect fast shipping, fresh product and the amount advertised.

It IS fresh! It makes great Ginger Tea. Just peel off the skin, chop well, simmer on low boil for 15-30 minutes and you've got a great beverage.
We make it by the gallon and refrigerate it until needed - Then, if we want hot tea, we pour a cup, put in microwave for 3-5 minutes, and then add a little honey.
Good AND Good For You!

First off, let me thank the seller for working with me. I never received the first shipment for whatever reason. Spoke to the seller and they were glad to make it right which I am very grateful for--Thank you! Stand up customer service. Secondly, the ginger was fantastic. Smelt great, nice firmness, no complaints whatsoever.

Love to make Thai food. Got this to put in a couple freezer bags, so I just pull it out and grate it in our Thai food. Nothing like having fresh Ginger. :) I HIGHLY recommend.

"Ginger doesn't look as young as it does in the image, but the quality is good, and it was firm and tastes great!"

This ginger arrived so fast and it was so much fresher than I can get in the stores. I use a lot of ginger when making homemade Chai. I freeze it, and then use a grater to add it to the tea spices. Great stuff.
