About the Author
Mary ("Peggy") Wisham Fenstermacher was born and raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, a small town in Cumberland County. She enjoyed the childhood pleasures of living on a small farm complete with a barn full of laying hens, a black cocker spaniel and a Shetland pony. After graduating from high school, she attended Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. She later completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English at Kutztown State College (now University) in Kutztown, PA.
Since her graduation from Kutztown, she has been an elementary teacher in various public and private schools in the states of Pennsylvania and Maine. She has taught every grade from pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade, Title I Literacy, special education classes and vocal elementary music classes. She home schooled each of her five children for several years. In 1986 Mrs. Fenstermacher was accepted into the Institute of Children's Literature where she began her adventure in writing under the instruction of authors/instructors Blossom Budney Tresselt and Ron Roy.
Mary currently teaches private piano lessons to several students in the Dixfield area. She is the Music Director of the Dixfield Congregational Church where she plays the organ, directs the adult choir, and offers vocal solos. Mary lives in Peru, Maine, with her husband Todd. They have five children and four grandchildren ~~at last count!
