Ray Brown

Ray Brown is a Frenchtown, New Jersey poet whose work has appeared in a variety of literary journals and on-line.

He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey.

He writes poems about the world as it is - people's hopes and disappointments -in language that will capture your imagination - weave visual images - entice you to relax in the setting - reminisce -challenge you, at times, to think - and will constantly entertain you.

His language is crafted with care and skill - with a depth that can be appreciated by those who enjoy the art form, but with a writing style that allows everyone to be a casual reader - sit in their favorite chair - savor the experience, share in the emotion, think about life's questions raised. You will find poems that are companions that will walk with you throughout the day - be shared easily with family and friends - writing you will agree describes your life and the world you know.

Ray's words:

"In 1987, during a personal crisis, I began to write. Since then, from time to time, when the mood struck me I would write on the back of napkins, on reports in a business meeting, on index cards, in a little notebook and then at times with less distractions on a computer. During that time less that 6 people have read a portion of my work. I have always wondered whether other people would enjoy and appreciate them - and whether they were any good.

In December 2008, I first started to share my work with the public by posting it on a blog. The Poetry of Ray Brown http://raybrown.wordpress.com. I continued to post new poems there every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday."

Ray's poetry has appeared in The Edison Literary Review, FreeXpresSion, The Blue Collar Review, the River Poets Journal, 13th and 14th Annual Poetry Ink Chapbook, Moonstone Publishing, Philadelphia; The Star-Ledger of Newark; NJ Lawyer Magazine; received a NJ Poetry Society 2009 Recognition Award, PoetsSpeak on-line and will be published in upcoming volumes of the Big Hammer, the New Jersey Poetry Society Anthology, and The River. Four of his poems, have been featured as Poem of the Day by The New Verse News. His poetry was featured on-line in "What's Your Exit? A Literary Detour Through New Jersey"
