5.0 out of 5 stars IT'S ABOUT TIME! LOVERBOY LIVE ROCKS!
Anybody growing up in the early eighties should remember crankin their car stereos up loud to such party hardy songs as "Working For The Weekend" and "Jump". Then there were the hard driving ballads like "When It's Over" and all out fun rockers like "Hot Girls In Love". These guys played hard, even though their image was a bit much...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Really Live
This is obviously not really a lve album. The vocals were overdubbed, and probably everything else. The audience cheers at all the wrong times. Come on, guys.

Anybody growing up in the early eighties should remember crankin their car stereos up loud to such party hardy songs as "Working For The Weekend" and "Jump". Then there were the hard driving ballads like "When It's Over" and all out fun rockers like "Hot Girls In Love". These guys played hard, even though their image was a bit much for the guys. You know what I mean, The red leather pants, Mike Reno's bandanas, and even their name "Loverboy" made it a little tougher for us guys to say "Loverboy - Hell Yeah, Man". Now had they been "Mike Reno & The Raiders" or something. Never the less, behind the image was some hard drivin' all out rock n roll worthy of all respect.

This LIVE CD proves how good of musicians these guys really were. I mean these guys played tight, as tight as their pants, and really knew how to rock the joint. This should have been released back in '86. The songs on this CD were taken from concerts that included their tour with Journey. Loverboy & Journey, now there was a sold-out stadium event if there ever was one. This is one of the Superbowl's of concert recordings.

Do yourself a favor, and relive your youth, at least in your music.

RECOMMENDATION: Buy this CD, drop the kids off with grandma for a couple hours, and lose yourself for a little while back in the eighties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Die Hard 80's Fan, January 26, 2002

What a fantastic CD!!! I was really into Loverboy from 1980 to 1986. then only got it out from time to time, replacing my old albums with the CD's when they came out. There is nothing bad about this CD. The sound quality is awesome and the mix of songs is perfect, with only a couple missing. Gangs In The Street and Teenage Overdose. I saw Loverboy live twice in the early 80's and this CD takes me back to those great years. I wish they would have released a live album like this back when they were in their prime.

I remember seeing these guys open for Journey in 82 at The Omni(Atlanta) and being surprised at how hard they rocked. They were overtly corporate and seemed to have every cliche in the book. But, they also had something that other great rock bands like Kiss(70's version), Journey, AC/DC, etc had- they had great hooks. From the opening cow bell of Working For The Weekend, to Take Me To The Top, Queen of the Broken Hearts, Turn Me Loose, Hot Girls In Love, Lucky Ones, etc.... these guys delivered the goods. They were also a very tight band. They never pretended to be master musicians like Zeppelin or The Who, but they knew how to play in the pocket, especially Paul Dean. His kinetic guitar playing and great sense of rhythm really propelled these songs. Maybe I'm getting old, but it seems like music was just more fun back in the early 80's and this band kicked ass.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where was this disc 17 years ago?, November 26, 2003
This review is from: live, loud & loose (Audio CD)
Well, better late than never! Not only is this disc a nice live document of Loverboy, but it also works as a solid "Best Of" from the group. In terms of song selection, it outdoes their two greatest hits comps because at least this cd includes "Queen Of The Broken Hearts"! The only hit not on here is that song from TOP GUN, but I don't think we really need a live version of that. The sound on this cd is quite good and it's jam-packed at 73+ minutes. It's also on the "Best Value" line, so you can find it at a good price if you look around. ROCK ON!!!

Wow! Transport yourself back to 1983 when the music was hot, the hair was big and Loverboy RULED the charts. If you have NEVER seen them live, then this CD is a MUST! The quality is first rate. You'll feel like you're front row and center. The songs are great. (I'll agree with the other reviewer, the list is missing some key tunes) BUT, what you get is some kickin' rock and roll. For those of us fortunate enough to see them live, you get to re-live the fun over and over again. Paul Dean's guitar wails and Mike's vocals never sounded better. and oh that kickin' keyboard and drums. Great to drive to! Get our your lighter and crank it up! This ROCKS!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loverboy Still Rockin!, June 27, 2001

It was nice to finally see a live release from Loverboy. If you are a fan of the band and have ever seen them live during their hey-day, then this CD is an absolute must have! The CD includes material from their first 4 releasess and really captures Loverboy at their best. For the most part, the mix is great and the band really rocks most of the old favorites. Strangely enough, they ommited a live versions of Notorious & It's Your Life, but included "Lead A Double Life". Anyone who saw the band during their 1983 tour probably remembers the voice synth in Queen Of The Broken Hearts, but it is missing from this version, though the song still rocks. Also included is a very nice tribute to Scott Smith, the bands bassist whom died recently. If you are a Loverboy fan, then buy the CD, crank it up and enjoy the music just as you did when you first heard these songs, you won't be dissapointed.

Loverboy was definitely underrated. The true test of an artist is how well they do live, as well as in the studio. Loverboy exceeds expectations in all areas.
