4.0 out of 5 stars over all, a time-worthy autobiographical historical peice, March 19, 2006

This review is from: Me llamo Rigoberta Menchú y así me nació la conciencia (Paperback)
Although I've read this book before, this time, as an older and wiser reader I was able to recall a lot more information and specifics that had slipped my mind since the previous reading. As a non-native spanish speaker, it was easy to follow, in a dialect I could easily translate if necessary. Plus, this book is useful in the spanish classes that I teach in portraying a realistic view of guatemalan history.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brave tale, November 25, 2011

This review is from: Me llamo Rigoberta Menchú y así me nació la conciencia (Paperback)
This is a profound account of a remarkable human beign who was condenmed by our hipocrytical society, just becuase she is a woman of mayan descent, the sad part of this story is that many people still believe that being white and having blonde hair is the way to go and everyone that has brown skin and black hair is inferior, nothing further from the truth. That line of thought came from the savage europeans that invaded America, but back to the book this one should be thought in every school system of this great continent of ours so we learn from past mistakes to correct them and not to repeat them, enough written peace and keep reading.
