Book Description

Once upon a time, he had a last name and a pulse—and he was straight. But Marcus Desarno meets his demise in an explosion of broken glass and twisted metal, and when he wakes up, he’s a blood-sucking, sexually ambiguous, card-carrying member of Green’s Hill, the northern California refuge for the fey, the terminally furry, and the undead. It’s a tough transition, but gentle Marcus eventually finds contentment serving Green and his consort Adrian.

Then Marcus meets arrogant, vain, and competitive Phillip and feels compelled to make him a vampire to save his irritating life. Now Marcus has an unwanted roommate and a crush that won't quit, and Phillip has the motive, means, and libido to bang anything with or without a pulse in a three-hundred mile radius. It's a good thing vampires live forever, because it might just take that long for Marcus to convince the love of his unlife that gender lines are for the living and that the person driving you crazy might be the one your heart would beat for—if it could beat at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very HOT side story!!! May 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I absolutely loved the story of Philip and Marcus. I am completely addicted to this author and her Little Goddess world. Amy Lane, as always, has written a beautiful and emotional side story to her Little Goddess series. I say "side story" because this book is part of a series and while I found it to be an amazing love story, these characters are not main characters and the book does not contain enough back story to not be confusing if you haven't read the other Little Goddess Books or at the very least Vulnerable. I personally prefer it that way because I already know the facts and the whys and who's I don't want or need to read them again. But if you are just getting this book to try Amy Lane's writing for the first time, Don't! This will make no sense to you and she is an amazing writer who has created this entire magical world that I would describe as adult fairy tales meets erotica. I definitely recommend reading any of her books they are all "can't even begin to think about putting them down" good, but the Little Goddess books must start with book one to make any sense. If you are interested in vampires, elves, fairies, and shape changers and like a writer with a twisted little world in her head and a wicked sense of humor you should definitely read Amy Lane, just don't start with this book!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Read from GREENSHILL!!! June 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Do not "judge a book by its cover" or in this case "by its name." We who have been reviewing Amy Lane and her Greenshill stories for years, all those followers know what I mean when I say "This is one terrific view of what was happening in the lives of two popular residents in Our Little Goddess Series" Bravo!

I just love when I get the scoop to fill readers in on a background story of a book I am reviewing. So, we who keep up with Amy Lanes Little Goddess Series were asked by Amy to nominate members of Greenshill whom they wish to learn more about, and she would pick one nominee and write their story. Marcus and Phillip's relationship was the winner!

Marcus and Phillip were big players in the main stories, but much of their life was pretty much behind the scenes. They began with a small role in Vulnerable and we learn more about them in Wounded when Cory is healing and they helped her establish a connection to the Vampires with the Kiss that Adrian bequeathed to her upon his untimely death. In Rampant we start to see how deeply their relationship is growing.

In I love you, Asshole we see it all. The challenge to the writer is keeping her timeline true and then of course the writing, editing and angst of it all. The easy part was mine; it was reading this sexy, wonderful, frustrating, funny, story of how this came to be.

Marcus, is a school teacher. The story opens during a car accident where Marcus is turned by Adrian at the scene. Evidently, Marcus was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is brought to Greenshill to heal and be mentored as a vampire by a vampire. One of the funniest lines in this story was from the pompus stockbroker Philip saying, "I was so surprised that the love of my life would have pecs".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story! May 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I adore the story of Marcus and Phillip. They were so wonderful in the glimpses I saw in the first two books and it was great to read their story.

For some odd reason it's Phillip that I really fall for here. I mean you can't help but love Marcus. He's perfect. Or, almost perfect. Phillip is so very, very lost in emotional arenas that its like watching a little child try to understand calculus. Perhaps it's the very small glimpses of shyness and vulnerability that does it.

Regardless, I'm so happy that Ms. Lane gave these two men their own story. Makes me love Green's Hill and all of its inhabitants even more!

2.0 out of 5 stars A little bit lost... February 22, 2013
By LouLou
Format:Kindle Edition
I bought this book because I have loved all of Ms Lane's books, with my favourites being the Jonnies series. I think that this book must also be part of a series and should be read as a series because as a stand alone book it was very disjointed.
There were important events in the book that had serious impact on the lives of the h/h and they were mentioned very briefly with the barest of details. I can only assume this is because they were fully explained in the other books in the series.
Not one of my favourites because so much of the story was glossed over but still had some of the Lane style that I find so enjoyable

More About the Author

Amy Lane has four children, two cats, a love starved Chi-who-what, a crumbling mortgage and an indulgent spouse. She also has too damned much yarn, a penchant for action adventure movies, and a need to know that somewhere in all the pain is a story of Wuv, Twu Wuv, which she continues to believe in to this day! She writes fantasy, urban fantasy, and m/m romance--and if you give her enough diet coke and chocolate, she'll bore you to tears with why those three genres go together. She'll also tell you that sacrifices, large and small, are worth the urge to write.
