US release this to CD,
By
This review is from: Love Shine (Audio CD)
This is the best album that Con Funk Shun produced and recorded. The title song of the album is classic. This album is a treasure. They need to release this CD in the US at a very resonable price so all can enjoy. Thank God I saved my album copy in mint condition and was able to transfer the album songs into MP3 format. Let love keep shining

I definitely agree with TMACK79. The price for a used copy of Love Shine is ridiculous $49.99!!!!!.Does it come with speakers? I think i'll find other resources besides amazon.I mean you have to know this is WRONG!! Someone else in this world has this CD and/or ALBUM and i'm going to find it without having to spend $100

R&B issues on CD deliberately manipulated!!,

This was a decent "album"...not a great one. It is my perception that CD releases of much of the R&B from the 70's and early 80's is being deliberately manipulated by the record labels to drive up prices. I've seen copies of this CD being sold for upwards of $50.00 after only a brief time in release on CD. This Cd was not so great that it warrants the "scalping" that is taking place. In my opinion, the record labels are reflecting a blatant (perhaps even racist) disregard for R&B fans with these marketing tactics, like deliberately, if at all (is this not, actually, a foreign import?), providing copies of original R&B albums in very, VERY limited release.

CO-SIGN with T-MACK 79.A good album with 3 excellent songs on it: LOVESHINE...SHAKE & DANCE...WHEN THE FEELING'S RIGHT.From what I understand-SKIP SCARBOROUGH produced the album. That would explain why it has that EWF vibe going through it.So...why the brutal scalp job!?! The same thing-ONLY WORSE- is happening with a more stellar album from that era:THE BROTHERS JOHNSON-BLAM!Please stop this.

Very Good Con Funk Shun,

While there's no question that this album isn't nearly as slickly produced or pop oriented as the previous Secrets this is still an excellent release from a very unheralded band. it starts off with a pretty strong funk stance in "So Easy"-one of their harder egded album openings filled with breaks all around. There isn't a whole lot of that kind of heavy funk here as Con Funk Shun choose to go for a lot of ballads in "Magic Woman","Make It Last" and "Can't Go Away" but,at the same time the hard edged, almost instrumental groove of "When The Feelings Right" will also give hard funk fans what they're looking for. Like it's predessor this album owes it's strongest moments to it's more midtempo moments on songs such as "I Think I Found The Answer","Wannaa Be There" and the excellent title track-a smooth groove with a little bit of light electronics and one of the strongest tracks on the album.'Shake And Dance With Me"..well it's a nice enough tune but, being that this was recorded in 1978 there's something about the production that's only overly poppy but a couple years behind the times. It's obvious they're going for an EWF style of sound (something they often did) but in this case it doesn't quite work for the band.It turned out to be one of the most popular songs from this album and is very good but really tries too hard on that one. The interesting thing about this Con Funk Shun album is that they seem to be in a bit of a standstill with this. Wheras Con Funk Shun spent the entirety of their previous two releases,as well as all the ones to come looking forward or to the exact present with their music, there's something about the general feel of this album that comes off as just mildly old fasioned in parts. It has more to do with production then performance;by the late 70's synthesizers and more sophisticated production techniques were moving swiftly through this style of R&B/funk. And with this album's relience on organ solos and horns it suddenly becomes in the style of the mid 70's. So it was a step forward then this step behind for the band;this is far from Con Funk Shun's worst album but in many cases the production is a bit lazy and gives the impression they were trying to release this album too fast. As far as purchasing this CD,GOOD LUCK!!As many reviewers as stated here this import CD edition seems to be deliberately out of print for some reason. But if you can get this at a reasonable price. This is not one of the bands greatest albums but features enough quality material to make it worthwhile.
