3.0 out of 5 stars First Man from U.N.C.L.E. novel doesn't altogether stay true to canon, November 13, 2005

This review is from: The man from U.N.C.L.E: [the thousand coffins affair] (Ace books) (Paperback)
Michael Avallone wrote this book basically from advance promo materials, without really having had the opportunity to review the series in detail. It's not a bad book, but it has several deviations from later "canon"; for example, it makes U.N.C.L.E. seem almost as if it were an arm of the United States Government (Mr. Waverly receives a visit from the U.S. President at one point) rather than an independent international organization. Also, does it really make sense that U.N.C.L.E. would stick one of its most important scientists in an isolated small town in Germany?
