About the Author

Andrew Weil, M.D., has degrees in biology and medicine from Harvard University. Author of the best-selling Spontaneous Healing and Eight Weeks to Optimum Health, he traveled the world experiencing and studying healers and healing systems and has earned an international reputation as an expert on alternative medicine, mind-body interactions, and medical botany. He is the associate director of the Division of Social Perspectives in Medicine and the director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

This book is absolutely extraordinary, definitely way ahead of its time. Dr. Weil writes with such enthusiasm and curiousity, I couldn't help but be enthralled by this amazing peice of work. I learned so much about consciousness, psychoactive plants, and the mind. A must read for anyone
interested in consciousness, psychology, medicine, or botany. A real treasure to read. Dr. Weil is a gifted scientist.

Dr. Weil's older material is always fascinating. I loved learning about the many different cultures and people he visited in his travels. Great read with a lot of important thoughts and concepts well conveyed in an interesting and easy to follow way.

Also would recommend "The Natural Mind" by Dr. Weil.
