I wrote this book, and there are a few mistakes in it.

Does this make it a terrible book? No. It makes it a frustrating book, because you want to solve a puzzle and get that feeling of satisfaction upon completing it. Instead, you work on a puzzle for a while, get stuck, and discover that it's missing a key clue. As a lifelong puzzle solver myself, I can agree with you wholeheartedly -- that sucks.

See, during the process of putting this book together, there were a lot of people working on it. I wrote the puzzles. Someone test-solved them. Someone else proofread the clues. Someone else checked the layout. Someone else checked for facts, consistency, inconsistency, repeated names, repeated concepts, etc. And with a dozen people contributing notes and changes, there were a few occasions on which multiple edits contradicted each other, cancelled each other out, or worst of all, made the puzzle unsolvable. Careful as we all were to make this book as good as possible, a couple of mistakes slipped by.

So -- if there's anyone out there who has this book, and is stuck on a puzzle -- contact me (brian at bemoresmarter dot com), and I will happily provide you with revised clues, or guidance on what accidental change has impacted the solving process.

Thanks for checking out this book, supporting me, and supporting Sterling Publishing.

I like the puzzles. Let's start with that. I finish a puzzle, then check in the back to see if I got it right. There are a few puzzles that the BOOK got wrong. Which is baffling, and extremely annoying. Now it's like what's the point? I DO have this smug feeling, like "ha! I'm right and your wrong!" But I also kind of don't want to bother with this book, because the clues and answers it gives you can't be trusted.

I like the fact this book is bounded by wires, making it easy to fold. But No. 27 either left out a clue or mixes up it facts and is impossible to solve. I hope it's the only error, but handed are its not.

This book seems to have been rushed to market without proofreading. The errors in it are numerous and frustrating. Some errors are trivial, like an introduction saying "Four" when the puzzle is clearly about "five" (#27), or a mix-up in the order of the answers (#20 and 21). Others are a real problem, such as "Amelia's pastries... were not sold by Amelia" (#23) which make the puzzles unsolvable. I am up to #27 now, and it is the second unsolvable puzzle.

The difficulty level of the puzzles is annoying easy, even considering the "early in the book" factor, where one expects beginner-level puzzles. The first 24 are puzzles that I would consider to be for absolute beginners, and I would not expect more than two or three of those. These are four-matches of three variables. The fifth match begins with puzzle #25. The fourth variable begins on puzzle #41, but those are back to four matches. What I would consider to be an "average" level puzzle begins at #57, in a book of 72.

Even though the difficulty level is ridiculously simple, I cannot even recommend this for beginners, due to the errors in the book, but also due to the lack of basic instructions on how to solve logic puzzles (i.e. how to use the grid, etc.) that a true beginner might need.

Mental Floss should be embarassed by this product.

I got this book for Christmas, and I'm loving it! I'm new to logic puzzles and there are lots of great, straight-forward puzzles with amusing settings and characters to challenge me. I didn't notice any mistakes.

It's not bad, but pretty easy... Definitely good for beginners, but bored me pretty quickly. Worked well for me while I was watching tv so my focus was only half on the puzzle itself

There are quite a few unsolvable puzzles in the book as everyone has mentioned. It's frustrating because you never know if a puzzle is challenging or impossible.
