metric system question

according to this book, the protagonist is under 5' tall but weighs over 180 lbs. and somehow this is considered average more or less?

does the author not know how the metric system works or is he just proposing a vision of the future where everyone is as wide as they are tall?

He's actually more like 5' 5. The only references to Ishmael's height come from Ishmael himself and -- while this may be a spoiler -- he's not always as truthful (or as accurate) as you might wish him to be.
