Product Description

Amazon.com

At 0.63 ounces and 0.94 inches (24mm) square, the mobiBLU Cube DAH-1500i is the world's smallest MP3 player (as of January, 2006). This 1 GB player in blue is compatible with both MP3 and WMA digital audio files, and it has an integrated FM radio (with record function), voice recorder, and clock. The built-in lithium-polymer battery provides between 8 and 10 hours of battery life, and it can be easily recharged by a USB connection to your PC (via the included cable). It also sports a cutting edge OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display that looks terrific and draws less power than conventional LCD displays.

The 1 GB mobiBLU Cube DAH-1500i will hold approximately 16 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128kps) or 32 hours of WMA tracks (at 64kbps). It's compatible with MP3, WMA, and secure WMA DRM (enabling you to play tracks purchased from online stores or downloaded from subscription services). The FM radio offers 20 presets, and it enables you to record FM programming to the Cube's memory. You can also use the built-in microphone and voice recording function to capture interviews, classes, and short voice notes to yourself.

It features five preset equalization modes--Normal / Rock / Jazz / Pop / Classic--and you can also customize equalization to suit your sound. It also offers SRS WOW virtual surround sound for a 3D soundscape and superior bass. The player can play MP3 files saved in multiple folders. Those files and folders can be selected and played as if in a Windows environment. Previous user settings and track location are automatically restored when the unit is powered on, in case of a sudden power loss.

What's in the Box
mobiBLU Cube DAH-1500i 1 GB player, stereo headphones, USB/charging cable, finger strap, protective case, printed operating instructions, CD-ROM with drivers and software.

i'm in love. not only with this very cool cube, but also with my husband for choosing it for me! i use it during runs, but mostly for work. (also nice for yoga and other workouts.)

the drag-and-drop function works easily and quickly, even for a technophobe like myself. sound quality is fine as long as your original files are in good shape. i wish i could figure out the shuffle option for a single folder but it's not breaking my heart. working the buttons is easy for me (small fingers) once i worked with it a few times. simple to work not looking at the cube once you get used to it.

as far as battery life, i've never had it last 10 hours continuously - husband says it's a flash player and therefore uses energy even when it's off but i haven't a clue if he's full of it or not.

still, it's awfully cool. i'm 35, and the teenage checkout girl at the store yesterday said "wow, what's that - an mp3 player? i've never seen one like that before! cool." it's so tiny i had forgotten i was still wearing it. HA.

Flash players are great because they come in such a tiny package. I've got small fingers so I don't mind pressing Mobi's really tiny buttons and reading its really small screen. I have one major complaint about the Mobi: The more stuff you add, the slower the Mobi operates and the faster the battery life depletes. It's supposed to get 10 hours to the charge but on the average, I only get about 4 hours before it completely dies on me. To compensate for the inadequate battery life, I had to convert most of my files to 64kbs, dim the lights on the screen, and keep the capacity level at 700mb. When I do all this, I get about 7 hours to the charge. This is not the kind of mp3 player for people who are out and about for long periods of time (plane, train, car). There are a few positive things to note about Mobi, however:
1. Charge time is only about half an hour
2. The sound is awesome
3. Voice recorder is excellent for class lectures
4. Easy to read the screen

There are also some minor problems I found with the Mobi (but I can live with these):
1. The headphone cord that comes with it is very fragile! I accidentally bent it (at the "V" point where the string comes together to make the necklace) and it stopped working so I had to send it back to get a replacement.
2. It doesn't fit well in my pocket when I put it away
3. I have to re-install the firmware every time it malfunctions (from putting too much data on it) which deletes all my files

All in all, the Mobi is a good budget player for anyone not on-the-go for long periods of time.

This is not made for comfort first of all. It is so small that you can barely press the buttons on it. Battery life is not that amazing. I used the player on my train rides to school; a total of 2-3 hours per day and battery was already half way! I didn't like using my laptop as a charger. Laptop has to be on and there were times that I didn't want it on. Once charging, the player will automatically begin adding all the music files from the laptop even when you already have the music you want.

It's not one of those players that you just open it and start using without any complications, you do need to refer to the manual for certain things. Like I said, this is NOT FOR COMFORT.

The headphone cord it SO short it reaches your chest area only so you can't even put the player in your pockets or bag. This is a stupid design! I did like the light color and the sound is very good, that's about it.

Worst of all was that after almost 3 weeks using it, it froze on me. I tried resetting, nothing happened. I didn't turn off, it didn't play, and it did NOTHING. I had to wait for the batteries to die and return it. This player is so fragile, and trusts me; if you are an active person, skip it.

Verified Purchase
This little gadget is perfect for the physically active type. It's design to be worn on your neck (they ship a necklace-type earbuds with the cube) while you go out jogging, working out or just strolling the streets.

What I like about the mobiBlu:

+ It's a great value at $129, compared to iPod Nano's $199 or $249 price. (Although Nano does come with more memory).

+ It's cute and makes a pretty good fashion accessory.

+ Syncs out of the box with Windows Media Player. Unlike most of its competitors, mobiBlu doesn't even come with its own media software (you probably wouldn't use it anyway).

+ Great sound quality. Come with a voice recorder and a (pretty useless) FM tuner.

+ Charge it with your PC's USB port! (no bulky transformers to worry about)

Things I don't like

- The FM reception is very poor, to the point that it's useless.

- You probably will need another pair of headphones. The cords of the included earbuds are too short for you to put the gadget in your pants pocket. And believe me, any earbuds WILL fall out if you go jogging with them.

- Battery life is not as long as advertised. I usually get 5-6 hours per charge.

As soon as I saw this was released, I had to have one. I owned this item for almost a year and I'd have to say I have only one complaint. Not enough battery life. But even with that issue, I still love this thing. Simple computer interface with the ease of drag and drop to transfer songs is great. No extra software is needed, which is a real plus. The sound quality is fine, I've been able to listen to it on airplanes with no problem. The navigation while playing is simple enough, though it does take a few steps to change from one album to another. This item is all about the size. This cube is tiny! you hang it around your neck with the supplied headphones and you barely know you are even carrying anything with you. This won't replace your IPod, but it is the most portable MP3 player that I know. Well worth the bucks, this is a great product.
