Editorial Reviews

Review

The first sighting of the Millennium in the Keys is the latest work by Joe Carter, bodypainting king of the world. Delivered Sept. 8 all over town, The MILLENNIUM CALENDAR is a labor of love for Carter and Shrayne Productions. Heavy with sponsors who want in on the action of this once-in -a-lifetime souvenir, the calendar represents pride in our community. Check out the three ladies on the back cover, painted in the U.S., Conch Republic, and Gay Pride flags. "It's a fully functional calendar," Carter explained this week. "Each page has a theme for the month, and a complete listing of events." On the inside back is a master list of events throughout the Keys and 'what fish are biting when." We learn from the calendar that Hemingway first arrived here in March, and that two slave ships, Wildfire and Williams, once surrendered here to U.S. gunboats Mohawk and Wayandothe. The calendar has a full page for every month from December 1999 through January 2001. All the airbrushing in the calendar is the work of Carter, who ears ago pioneered the method on human skin at Fantasy Fest. He came to Key West from Ft. Walton Beach 16 years ago, but Joe's style-as an artist and in his life-reveals Californian roots. -- The Key West Citizen

This review is from: 14 month All Florida Keys Millennium Calendar and Events Guide (Calendar)
I was in Key West Florida a few times. I found this calendar among many to be the most informative, useful and well designed. I had bought two calendars - one for myself as a souvenir and one for my daughter as a gift - she loved it. This is more than just a calendar - it's an information source, a guide and a collectable item. A very beautiful gift that I may buy more of for friends and familly in the near future.
