The author proposes that the very heart of Sacred Scripture has remained hidden to theologians because they have overlooked the vital dimension of mystical instruction which is contained in the Bible. This is guidance which reveals to the seeker the way to inner communion with God in the here and now.
One of the most important contributions which this work offers is a decoding of the mysterious parables of Jesus. Traditionally, theologians have attempted to interpret these simple sayings and stories by assuming they fall into the above categories -- usually a moral teaching or a prophecy. However, the author asks why would Jesus explain the hidden meanings of the parables only to His closest disciples if they contain only moral commandments and prophetic warnings which are usually meant for all to understand? Actually, Jesus Himself said that His parables speak of the "mysteries" of the Kingdom of Heaven and are meant only for those deemed ready to hear them. However, if we approach the more mysterious parables as mystical instructions then such a secretive attitude becomes understandable.
The author proposes that some of the parables are written in the metaphoric language of the soul. What they convey to the initiated disciple is the method of meditation taught by Jesus to those who had proven themselves morally ready for such instruction.
Thus we see that Jesus not only gave the commandment to love with all our being but also revealed mystical techniques for manifesting a radically-transforming and Radiant Love. He taught His disciples the "science of Love." This Radiant Love is the key to the alchemical transformation and spiritual evolution of humanity.
Finally, understanding the parables as mystical instructions reveals much about the mission of Jesus. His method of inner communion with God is seen as a way through which graces flow which ultimately give birth to the New Human. It is the fulfillment of the prayer "let Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven."
