Great mp3 playback but not work as advertised.,

This review is from: nEW 4GB 3" QVGA screen display (16:9) Touch Screen MP5 MP4 Mp3 GAME RMVB RM Player + support mini SD card to extend+ MIC and FM recording function (Electronics)
I was looking for an audio player that had touch screen controls. I'm excited by such technology. I also needed a player that would be compatible with AAC audio files, the kind of files used with iPods and iTunes, though I was not going to be putting iTunes music in it. Important also was for it to have an FM player with FM recording capability. This mp5 player seemed to fit the bill.
When the player came I brought it to my office and plugged it into my computer to download some AAC audio magazine files into it and the first thing it did was to trigger my company's network antivirus software to detect 2 virus corrupted DLL files in the operating system of the player which it deleted one and supposedly cleaned the other. I was shocked! You expect new electronic computer related equipment to be completely free of viruses. This of course caused my company's computer department to later contact me and question me about the virus detection incident. I did not need that kind of attention. Anyway, with this mp5 player finally purged of all viruses I tried to download some audio magazines in the AAC format to the player but the player would not detect or play the files. I used the player's file browser to find the files and tap on them but it still would not play. I searched the Internet for test AAC files and download of them to the player but it still would not play these test files. Then I read the owner's manual that came with this player and under specifications it listed this player as being able to play such audio files as mp3, WMA and other typical audio files but no mention of AAC. The owner manuel also described features that I did not see in this player, such as it was supposed to have folders in it for video, music, photos but it did not have those folders except one and so all the files were out in the open root drive. The owner's manuals also said that it was supposed to come with a CD of conversion software but there was none in the package. As far as the touch screen was concerned it came with a scribe which raised immediate questions in my mind as I was expecting it to respond to a tap of the finger. You can calibrate it to increase its sensitivity but it could not correct it to use anything but the scribe or a fingernail. And even after calibration I would have to sometimes tap the screen hard twice to open up an icon. I eventually gave up and returned this player because of the viruses and also it's not operating as advertised. Does this mean this mp5 player was a complete bust? Not really. Actually, it played mp3 and WMA music quite well, with excellent sound quality. And the demo video on it had exceptional playback with sharp graphics, vivid colors and no jerky playback. I threw on a video from an unprotected DVD and the playback of that was excellent except for a 20 second lag between the audio and video. The problems I had with this might be attributed to this technology not being developed to a maturity yet. Wait a few months or a year for name brands to come out with it and then it will be much more dependable.
