This item was tested and works as advertised on my 4th generation iPod Touch. It was able to charge it via any powered micro-USB cable. These include common micro-USB cables as well as the now-standardized micro-USB cellphone chargers that many manufacturers have adopted. Combining this adapter with a standard micro-USB cable will turn it into a fully functional iPod cable with which you can charge and sync with iTunes.

My only complaint is that it is difficult to discern which side should face forward. I was able to solve this by drawing a dot on one side with a magic marker.

This adapter saves some suitcase space when I travel because I only need to carry one charger for both my phone and my iPod. Definitely worth the money!

Works great..Wife is on a device with micro B, I am on iphone 4s, didn't want to have several chargers. This was a great solution and works perfectly Fits snugly on the micro b connection not sloppy at all. Worth the $$ shipping was also very prompt with this vendor.

Works as expected, and passes data through (which is a bit of a surprise); so it not only works for charging, but for syncing as well. Fits as well as the original cable. Overall, quite pleased.

My story is this... I have an HTC EVO 3D (personal) and a Blackberry Curve (work) which both use micro USB for charging & synching. I'm in IT, so I like being prepared so I have dozens of micro USB chargers & USB cables laying everywhere at work, home, and in my car. I recently traded my Blackberry Curve for an iPhone 4 but found that I would have to buy more cables or lug the same charger with me everywhere I go. To me, those two options aren't feasible so I was shopping around and found that good quality Apple cables cost about $5, even on Amazon. The idea of using micro USB came to me when a fellow coworker of mine showed that she had one of those battery extender cases for her iPhone. To my surprise, it was a case that had the Apple connector built-in and then was charged via a micro USB cable. I knew I was onto something... and then remembered reading about a unified charging standard a few years ago...

So for those tech-savvy folks, you may also remember reading about it as well... about how the International Electronics Commission made microUSB the the official charging solution for all NEW mobile phones? I do... the reason for this is to eliminate the need for several different chargers, especially when you move from one cell phone to another. For those of you who don't know who the IEC is, it's the "world's leading organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies". What scarier is that Apple was one who jumped onboard with all other mobile phone manufacturers to support microUSB as the charging standard. As we all know, Apple's charging was proprietary.

So here we are in 2011 and Apple is still using that 30-pin proprietary Apple docking cable for all their devices.

Stopped working after a dozen uses.

Initially it was functional as a way to use a micro USB charger to charge your Apple device via dock connector. Though the tolerances could be much tighter, there's a 2mm gap when the micro usb charger is plugged in to the base of the adapter. There's a 1.5mm gap from the adapter to the apple device you're plugging into. The apple cables have 0.5mm gap or less and therefore fit more securely and are less prone to flex and stress the connection point.

Also it would be nice if there were a silkscreened icon on it indicating which side is which as the apple cables have.

My plan was to use this in combination with my phone charger to charge my ipod classic. The adapter never worked, and after testing it a few times the casing fell off. I never review items, but I depend on others to write good reviews. So since this item was an epic fail, I thought I'd share.

Mine worked great for about a month and now the micro usb fit is so loose, it barely stays on. It no longer makes adequate connection to charge the phone.
