Do I need to buy a copy of Microsoft Windows 8 DVD AS WELL AS Parallels Desktop 8, or just Parallels?

Yes, or an earlier version of Windows. You install Parallels first and then install Windows.

You need a copy of Windows, although it doesn't have to be Windows 8.

I just asked Apple Tech Support this question today and was told no, all you need is Parallels for Desktop
