Though the book contains a very good coverage of the breed and substantial pedigree information, most of the material on feeding and training is out of date. The book could benefit from a major editorial update.

From a book design point of view, the book lacks professional polish. It is inexcusable that the book has no index.

This book is VERY readable, and provides critical insight on Italian Greyhounds (IGs) as pet, breed, or show prospects. The text occassionally used terms that were unfamiliar to me as a life-long pet dog owner (and went unexplained). However, the overall the book did an excellent job of educating me in the breed, what is involved in showing and breeding IGs, and what to expect of an IG as a pet. I purchased the book thinking there would be lots of color photos-- Not so ! Though there is an abundance of photos, they are black and white, and many are show photos (non-action poses with judges, handler/owners and ribbons). Also, a material portion of the book is dedicated to family trees of several IGs that have impacted the breed. This may, or may not, interest the prospective buyer of the book. Last word: As an owner of two IGs for the past year, I recommend this book for anyone interested in purchasing an IG. I learned allot!

This book is by far the only book you'll ever need to help you with your IG. This is the Bible of IG ownership. Barber makes sure it's easy to understand, and any information you'll ever need is contained in these pages. Throw all the others away, trust me!
