I am a serial waxer. I got a brazilian about a year ago and became hooked on hairlessness. So when I saw the infomercial on this and many, many positive reviews from Sephora, I got right on it. Although it says not to use it on your bikini area, I did. What this device does is burn off surface hair with a thin wire when you move it over an area. Since it doesn't touch the skin or the root, you are left with a shorter hair than when you started. You are then required to use the disk that essentially sands away the remainder of the hair. The hair then grows back, and grows back fast, because it's like giving yourself a surface haircut (not nearly as close as a shave). The claim is that the blue light inside the device delivers a warming pulse that eventually does something to the root to inhibit future growth, but I don't believe it. I used the device every other day, and sometimes every day, for a solid month and saw absolutely no improvement. But the real reason I don't believe it is because the first time I tried to wax after giving up on this product, the pain and removal force was the same as the first time I had my brazilian wax: the roots had returned to full strength and removal was very, very difficult (and painful). Waxing twice a week as I used to (and do again now), the roots don't grow back as fiercely so removal is virtually painless after awhile. This is what told me I had to send back this useless product. Before people say that I should not have used it on my bikini area, I should let you know I used it on three places on my face one night. Just one night. Never again. I tried my eyebrow, my lip and my chin, and the scars are just starting to heal. The wire takes hold and since these areas are not smooth, sort of jabs into the skin, leaving burns that look like track marks. Forget it ladies. Don't bother. I think all positive reviews have been planted. I wrote today because I just got my notification yesterday the product was successfully returned.
