Editorial Reviews
Review

"I would highly recommend this book to students and working security professionals alike. In fact the book should be required reading for TSA personnel and others who work in aviation and airport security." — Scott Watson Senior Risk Management Analyst, Liberty Regional Agency Markets

"I would certainly use this book in a college level course dealing with terrorism. While the author stresses aviation security, the text also examines terrorism from a historical perspective. This text has the potential to be used as a training manual for TSA, FAA airport policing, and security agencies. The text is extremely well written, contemporary, interesting, and thorough." — James Albrecht, Sam Houston State University

From the Back Cover

This book seeks to present not just a historical analysis of the development of airport security, but also to convince the reader of the importance of commercial aviation to the world economy.

Legislation enacted since September 11, 2001 is analyzed and the reader is provided with a critical review of the ongoing efforts of the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. Some of the procedures are praised and others are criticized, leaving the reader the opportunity to make their own decisions as to what will improve security as it relates to their practitioner goals or student development.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Enlightening, May 5, 2007

This is an interesting and informative book on aviation and airport security. The book describes terrorism and provides a historical perspective to the terrorism menace. It critically examines the post 11 September 2001 legislation in the USA and its effectiveness in combating and preventing terrorist attacks in the aviation industry.

I found the book to be instructive. It systematically covers the issues of interest to those involved in aviation security. It is an important reference book for me as my job involves aviation security matters. It contains a wealth of information including some of the latest technologies and techniques that are critical to thwart terrorist attacks. The various security risks are identified as well as the different methods of managing and mitigating them.

If you are involved in aviation or airport security in one way or the other or you have an interest in becoming involved in the future, this book will provide you the information you need in a readable, enlightening, accessible and comprehensive manner.
