'The short exercises ... beautifully close the filmed episodes ... This is an 'innovative publication', as the book's blurb states.' - SEER
'[A] richly evocative personal account ... How refreshing to encounter a major publication about theatre that is driven and organized ... by the open expression of Staniewski's passions ... Combining provocative text and rich audio-visual materials, this publication takes us as far as any publication could into Garzience's 'hidden territories' ... Hidden Territories offers a superb model for future publications [and includes] a CD-ROM so beautifully produced and with such high-quality graphics.' - Contemporary Theatre
'Routledge brought out two facsinating theatre books this year ... Staniewski's book is ... written in a delightfully idiosyncratic English [and] provides new lenses with which to measure and undertand.' - Katie Mitchell, The Guardian

Product Description
Hidden Territories is the first book and CD-Rom to be published by Wlodzimierz Staniewski. It comprises a collection of his writings on theatre, culture and everyday life which reflect twenty five years of practice with his Polish theatre company, Gardzienice. Staniewski's manifesto which argues for 'a new natural environment of theatre' is clearly set out and cogent examples of his tried and tested theatre practice illustrate the way in which he has achieved his objectives.
