Product Description

How can I be consistent when I'm parenting under pressure and I've got to get out the door? How can I help my children change their hearts and not just their behavior? What can I do about the lingering tension we face in our family after times of discipline? These are great questions that linger in the thoughts of parents and that are answered by Home Improvement.

The authors, founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting, give special attention to anger management in children, how to develop rules that teach life lessons, and even provide a strategy for tailoring a character development plan specifically for your own unique and special child. You'll want to read this book over and over again as your children continue to grow and develop. It's packed with illustrations and applications for children of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to Survive Parenthood, August 15, 2005
By James Jewett (Munroe Falls, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
If your family is like ours, something is going on all of the time. Needless to say, it keeps a parent on their toes.

We have read a number of parenting books, including those which focus on behavior management throught conseqences.

Not to say that these books are without value. They do help. This book takes things to the next level.

If you want your children to learn important life values, then this is the book for you. The authors provide helpful suggestions on how to blend values with discipline in raising your children. The goal is to build a family with a sense of closeness as well as order.

Admittedly, it has taken a little time to adapt this new approach. My wife and I were raised differently and it takes time to develop new habits. I must say however, that we have started to see some positive changes in our household since incorporating the approaches mentioned in this book.

If you consider yourself a parent with "more to learn" then this book should be a consideration in your library of resource materials.

Another superb book from Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller
on effective parenting. Through out this book they deal with
various issues of parenting and provide very practical and commonsensical solutions. It is also a very interesting read as it contains very good illustrations and examples.

Highly recommended tool/book for Home Improvement !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for any parent, May 5, 2009
We have been using "Home Improvement" as a training tool for the staff of our after school ministry and I cannot help but tell you of the changes it has brought into our program. The children are more respectful and well behaved toward our staff than when we started this year. We have been asked by parents what methods we are using and they are asking where to get the book. Our staff members are so impressed that they are recommending it to friends outside of our ministry and to other parents. This is a great book and I would not hesitate to recommend it to any parent or person who works with children.
