About the Author
James E. Stowers is the founder of American Century Investments, a multi-discipline, global asset management firm. Stowers holds two degrees from the University of Missouri and was an Air Force pilot during World War II. In 2001 Jim and his wife, Virginia, founded the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. They have endowed it with their entire fortune to support basic research that will provide long-term solutions to gene-based diseases.
