Product Description
The Da Vinci Code meets Tomb Raider in this modern action/adventure which draws factual archeological mysteries from ancient Sumer and weaves them into a life-threatening chase from New York to Egypt.A spirited young woman, Jessica Shea, stumbles upon a priceless relic of antiquity - the head of a beautiful woman carved in a jewel-like stone. The statue possesses the spirit of an ancient goddess, and begins to physically transform Jessica, infusing her with mysterious power.Forced to flee for her life by unknown assailants, Jessica begins an adventure of romance and self-discovery in a spine-tingling chase into the supernatural. With time running out, she must solve the puzzle of an ancient Egyptian prophecy to help the goddess escape from her stone prison, and rid the world of an evil spirit intent on destruction.

About the Author
New to speculative fiction, Ms. Smith meticulously researches the very real archaeological mysteries that provide the inspiration for her novels. She lives on a 60 acre horse farm in Maine overlooking the Presidential mountains with her husband Scott, two dogs, four cats and usually one or more of their six grown children.Look for the sequel to The Goddess of Sumer entitled "The Emerald Tablet", and introducing a new heroine - "The Jewel of Delphi" soon to be published.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Enjoyable, April 23, 2005
This book is a real page turner. It's a wonderful mix of mystery, romance and history. You are transported to another time and place through the story line. If you love horses then this is a book for you. I couldn't put it down and I was sorry when it ended. And, what an ending! Now I can't wait for a sequel to be written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating, March 15, 2005
This review is from: The Goddess of Sumer (Hardcover)
What a captivating escape from the real world!!!! This book kept me on my toes and anxious to turn the page!!!! With so much mystery, intrigue, romance and history I found myself transported to another time - during the time of ancient ruins- as well as our present day. Each adventure became more exciting as I followed the character's every move to solve the ultimate mystery. And what an ending!!!! You must open the book and then hold on as you'll be swept into the swift current of suspense!!! If you're looking for a story to "take you away" this is it!!! ENJOY!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, February 12, 2005

This review is from: The Goddess of Sumer (Hardcover)
This was by far the best book I have read in a long time. It has all the elements of romance, intrigue, magic, and action to completely absorb the characters and story.
The most interesting thing about this book is how it takes actual events, places and relics, and connects them all in a fast-paced adventure that you won't be able to put down... I certainly couldn't!
Definately a MUST-READ!

The premise is von Daniken-esque, ridiculous; star-gods bootstrapping hapless Sumerian humans until one of the gods is trapped in an ancient statue. Read more
