Alternative rock quartet Die Happy formed in Ulm, Germany, in 1993. Guitarist Thorsten Mewes, bassist Julian Rosenthal, and drummer Marcus Heinzmann auditioned a series of singers before finally settling on Czech-born Marta Jandová. If you are a big fan of pop with a lot of euro style and some serious lead vocals, this album is for you. Yes this band is from Germany, and yes... The lead singer is easy on the eyes. HOWEVER!!!! This album is full of some fantastic ballads in Breathing, Adam's Eyes and Cry For More. But it's the upbeat songs like Goodbye, and the powerful Not that kind of girl that really show you what this band is made of. If MTV actually played this band at all and gave them any kind of airplay, you would be hearing nothing but fantastic raves about this group. They are fantastic live as well, and well, Marta is as powerful a vocalist to come around in a while.

Overall, If you like bands like Fuel, Garbage or Guano Apes, Give them a try. This album, the first one, Supersonic Speed and the latest Weight of the Circumstance are stellar is you are into some good pop "guitar driven" tunes.

The track "Goodbye" can hold its head up and compete with anything playing on American radio today. A friend turned me on to this band recently, playing me a few cuts from this particular album.

I'd say that if it weren't for all the payola that Clear Channel and some other big players in radio had to pay millions in fines for, and Die Happy was given a fair shot in the U.S. market, they could do well.

I saw them in Germnay on 12/17/04. It was the best show I've been to. They have great energy & music. They are 100 times better than most bands out there today. If you want to find a non-mainstream band that kicks [...]...look no further than these guys & their hot lead singer!
