Editorial Reviews

Product Description
From 1947 to 1951, Tony Pastor and his band recorded many sides for Columbia Records that either were unreleased at the time, or only appeared as singles. This compact disc is an attempt to compile many of them, a missing chapter in the history of Big Band music in America. The Clooney sisters and Pearl Bailey are featured vocalists on numerous selections.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rare glimpse at a little-remembered band, June 15, 2009
By G. Schneider "old movie buff" (VA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this CD because I'm a huge Rosemary Clooney fan and this band, of course, was her entrance into the world of music, along with her sister, Betty. Unfortunately, there's precious little of the Clooney sisters and far too much of Mr. Pastor. That's not to say he's bad, but he's undistinguished...in fact, not even as good as Bob Crosby, and that's saying something! For me the highlight of the collection is "Grievin' for You," a delightful early Rosemary solo. This album is a little bit of musical history, but not something I'd listen to over and over.
