Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Previously available only as an import , Fast Horse Recordings is proud to release world-wide Sudaka, the debut album by Brazilian percussion master Ramiro Musotto. Ramiro is an Argentinean-born, Brazilian-trained percussion master who has studied the berimbau, all forms of Brazilian drumming, and mastered all of the amazing techniques in Brazilian percussion. He has worked with just about every great Brazilian and Argentinean artist in the world today including Sergio Mendes, Caetano Veloso, Gato Barbieri, Daniela Mercury, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, and Virginia Rodriguez. Sudaka is Ramiro's first solo outing and combines his field recordings of Amazon Indian chants, Candomble spirit rhythms, Brazilian percussion, and everyday street sounds, all layered over a percolating electronic dance-groove production. It is a stunning and original debut album and one that reveals layer upon layer of originality with each listen. Critics around the world have consistently given this album a 5-star rating, hailing it as 'a classic in Brazilian electronica.' It's a must have for any aficionado of Brazilian music and world electronica.

5.0 out of 5 stars unbelievably good!, November 28, 2003
By Fernando de O. Leobons (Rio de Janeiro, RJ Brazil) - See all my reviews
Most musicians - particularly percussionists - who steep themselves into a traditional style or form, tend to be uncomfortable with musical "fusions" of any sort which utilize traditional music and drumming with more modern and comtemporary musical idioms. Probably because most such attempts have not been exactly fortunate. Well, this is a wonderful exception! Musotto is a musician with intimate knowledge of two of the richest afro-brazilian musical traditions: the sacred ritual drumming of candomble and the berimbau of capoeira. With a solid understanding and technical command of both, he blends this music with african pigmy chants, drum-n-bass, arab music, bahian carnival songs, street-vendor chants, brazilian film soundtracks, electronic beats and patterns plus a considerable array of percussion instruments. He then proceeds to plug-in all of this stuff and blends it at the same time with fire and good taste. And hey....it swings! This cd certainly provides a blueprint for the new, good, provocative and intelligent music of the new millenia.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST ELECTRONIC-BRAZILIAN MUSIC CD, December 19, 2003
By dick leonard silva (DUSSELFORD, germany) - See all my reviews
I am a electronic music fan . I practice capoeira here in Dusselford, Germany .This Cd is an inspiration for all my capoeira-clubber friends. It seems that this masterpiece was done for us .We can't stop listen to this CD .This is the best CD I ever had , and it works in clubs also !!
Why is not a smash hit ?
I Don't know . Maybe because we are so stupid listen to a lot of bad music the whole year . My mother bought this CD in New York , and since then this is a hit , at least in my life . This is the music of the film of life .
