4.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be Christian to enjoy this, March 15, 2004
You probably wouldn't even know they are Christian if you just listen to the music. But the record label they are on (Tooth & Nail) is a dead giveaway. The music mixes hard-rock with a little nu-metalish influence and a clean vocalist that fits the bands musical style. At times, the vocalist reminds me of the vocalist from Adema, and the music, at times, is similar to P.O.D. or Pillar, except the vocalist doesn't rap on this album like on their debut.

Also, the drummer, on certain songs, can get really complex. Sometimes it sounds like he's using a double-kick (but I don't think he does), and it gives the songs a nice beat that sounds really good and interesting. The bass, however, is probably the least impressive, since he just mostly follows what the guitar is doing. He does have some interesting lines, though, in the beginning of some songs where the guitar isn't being played, so the bassist still shares some of the spotlight on this album.

The lyrics on this album seem to have a religious 'feel' to them, but not so much that it would make TFK sound preachy. The lyrics have a positive and uplifting message, while still keeping the songs upbeat, catchy, and fun to listen to.

Some things that kind of bothered me, though, is that some of the songs sound a bit too similar. You could switch the vocal tracks around with different songs and it would sound good, but too similar. This album would have been fantastic if TFK would have made some of the songs sound more distinct and different from each other, but they still do a good job overall. This album is still a very good listen and would be enjoyable for Christians and nonChristians alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars tfk rawks....J. Fischer, September 8, 2005
As most people have probably never heard ot his band Thousand Foot Krutch, I view them as one of the best bands I've ever heard. Their album entitled Phenomenon is just what their music sounds like. Being a Christian rock band in the world today, they are not viewed on the popular places of Tv such as MTV or VH1.
However, that has not stopped one famous song from being heard by many people on this album entitled "Rawkfist". It has been heard by religous people, everyday listeners and could probably be used at a party for drinking music. the sound of this song "Rawkfist" is explosive and gives you the same feeling when you're in the middle of a mosh-pit.
Other songs such as "This is a Call" or "Ordinary" display their views upon life and are not quite as heavy as "Rawkfist". These two have more of a mellow-rock sound but still nothing to try to fall asleep to.
Being a religoius groud, they include messages in their music instead of your death matel yelling and screaming band of how they hate life and are all doped up on drugs. They write songs about living for God and growing up as a Christian. They explain siutations of teenagers and some of the outcomes they choose when they're faced with hard choices in life.
On this album, Phenomenon, their music ranges from hard rock, to light guitar and drums to some screaming. Songs such as "Bounce" and "I Climb", have some of your typical screaming, but in a controlling state, which acually sounds decent. Even then, however, when they're yelling, Thousand Foot Krutch is still trying to send a message, but in a more powerful state of singing perhaps to get the point across a little heavier.
Being viewed as a Christian rock band does not give anyone the right to view them as your stereotypical alleluia, praise the lord type of gospel music. It's not gospel and they are not trying to convert people. They play rock music and most of their songs are about life choices in which most teenagers can relate to and therefore listen to them. I give them a 5 star rating on lyrics, music and performance. These guys are good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenominal, March 25, 2005
Thousand Foot Krutch is one of the best christian rock bands out there. Here is a synopsis on a few of the songs on the album:

1. Phenomenon - This song is a technical miracle, with everything from subtle palm muted guitsr, to a hard hitting chorus. Great song.

4. This is a Call - A beautiful and touching song that really hits home to real people. Lyrically brilliant and musically moving.

5. Rawkfist - A pump up kick you in the face rap rock song. All there is to it.

Thats it. Buy it now.
