4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, too big inside for 717/707., June 17, 2004
By "kenkejas" (Toronto, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony LCSFHA Soft Case for the DSC-F828 & DSC-F717 Digital Cameras (Electronics)
Well-manufactured, high quality item.

Pros:
-Internal material is soft and good quality;
-Inside bag is "L" shaped and Sony camera fits perfectly (for 717 it is little too much space left);
-Top, sides and bottom are covered with thick soft material protecting camera;
-Tight but expandable side pockets;
-Excellent product materials and labor.

Cons:
-No top handle;
-Strap hooks and bag rings (where you attach hooks) are from plastic. Not cheap plastic, but it is plastic. For price range paid metal would be expected;
-Top of bag is from synthetic material, so it puts on doubt about heavy weather conditions;
-There is no zipper under cover so taking bag to beach or other dusty/sandy place when it is windy is not recommended;
-Front pocket is way to small, regular leans cleaning book will not fit there;
-Enough space just for one extra battery;
-For my 717 (same as 707 in terms of size) there is way too much space inside;

Conclusion:
This item is good if you have few filters, one extra battery, mini (pocket size - smallest one) tripod and few memory sticks. And there is no more space for anything else. I would rate bag as `easy pick bag' rather that `take it all bag'.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Opinion, December 24, 2005

The thing I like about this case is:
It's soft inside, though I still keep the lens cap on, and sturdy on the outside. There is plenty of pockets for filters, spare battery, memory sticks aluminum case, and the USB cable. I do like the quick release latch to access the camera (DCS-F717). There is a belt-loop on the case if you plan to holster it on your belt. The case is good for field use.

The only negative thing I have to say is...it is bulky. In my opinion, if you want a sleek, form-fitting case, and do not care about carrying extra accessories buy a sleeker case.

Overall, this is a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed., June 25, 2005

I was a little worried about getting this case site unseen, as I had a very specific idea of what I wanted. I ride my bike (bicycle, that is) almost everywhere I go, and I use it as a real photography tool. You can get places cars can't, notice things in a car you won't, and cover MUCH more ground a day than walking. That being said, weight and motion are MAJOR factors in the type of case I was looking for. This is lightweight and semi-rigid, so much so that I feel if I were to 'eat-it', my camera would be a-ok. It has enough room for a remote shutter release, 2-3 filters, extra battery, and several memory sticks, which fits my needs perfectly.
I was a little concerned with the motion of the case however, but here's how I fixed it (to all the cyclist out there): I routed the strap through the cover flap strap of my Camelbak Rouge. Problem solved, the camera is now out of my way while I ride, does not swing down in front of me when pedaling, even out of the seat, and is still easily accessed. EXACTLY what I wanted. Keep in mind, that without this solution, the bag does swing down in front of you while riding, but I think any shoulder case would do this. Hope this helps anyone in my boat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect case except for the clasp
I have several of these and use them for a Sony F717, F828, and now a Sony A100 DSLR. The key positive about this case is the design: a velcroed insert supports the L shape of... Read more

Don't waste your money. After less than a year of use, the clapse breaks. This makes it nearly impossible to get your camera out and renders the case useless. Read more

My F707 fits snug in this bag. You kind of have to stuff the camera strap into the bag which is a little annoying, but the camera fits just fine. Read more
